Advantages: Clean family fun Disadvantages: Slightly irritating voices
Alvin and the Chipmunks is in my opinion a brilliant piece of family entertainment. It is clean, light and humorous, which are for me the most important factors.
Alvin and the Chipmunks is a film targeted at children and ells the story of three chipmunks, Simon, Alvin and Theodore, whoa re discovered as great singers by the currently crashing and burning songwriter Dave Seville. The Chipmunks however cause Dave no end of problems, wrecking his house, his friendship with Clare and ultimately loosing him his job.
In an attempt to redeem themselves the "boys" pay Ian, a record producer, a visit and perform for him. Within no time they have been flung into the showbiz spotlight and are living life to the max. All however is not as rosy as it may seem as the Chipmunks want themselves and Dave to be a family, which is something Dave ...
Advantages: Friendly, Efficient, Very Clean Disadvantages: None, apart from waiting time
I am at present resting at home after an operation on my left shoulder, made necessary after a clumsy fall that compressed the shoulder joint.
After a regimen of physiotherapy and steroids it was deemed that an operation called a subacromial decompression was arranged and took place at the orthopaedic unit of the Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester, Dorset.
I was given a choice of three hospitals, in line with the government's policy of offering a choice and I feel that I made the correct decision.
The choices on the list were The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospital, Poole General Hospital and the Dorset county.
Bournemouth was too far away, Poole is not a very nice hospital so I was left with Dorchester .

Advantages: Simple concepts, well desrcribed, inexpensive to purchase Disadvantages: Not for the more advanced investor
A few weeks ago I was nosing through the reference section in Waterstones when I came across a new book by Alvin Hall, or rather I thought it was a new book. On closer inspection I learnt that it was actually published in 2004, so relatively new, and still new to me.
Some of you might have heard of Alvin, no not Stardust and he isn't one of the chip monks, but a personal finance guru, known for being pretty hard line in his views. I hadn't actually read any of his books up to this point, but had seen him on plenty of chat shows and radio interviews. The book is called 'What not to spend' and has a picture on the front of Alvin grinning manically whilst clutching several high end shopping bags to his chest.
The front cover promises ' Priceless ways to manage your money' and describes Alvin Hall as 'The Mr Motivator of the money ...

Album Notes
Personnel: Phil Alvin (vocals, guitar, banjo, harmonica, marksophone, piano); Fayard Nicholas, Eddie Baytos (vocals, percussion); Mary Franklin, Top Jimmy (vocals); Dave Myers (guitar, bass); Jerome Bowman (guitar, background vocals); Robert Lily, Gary Masi (guitar); John Bambridge (reeds); Elliot Caine, Ike "Diz" Williams (trumpet); Jim Maihack (trombone, tuba); Bob Ringwald (piano); Travis Dickerson (organ); Phil Thomas, Ken Sara (drums); The Blasters, Billy Boy Arnold, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Cesar Rosas. Engineers include: Bruce Witkin, Ed Cody, Cesar Rosas. Brothers Phil and Dave Alvin were the heart of California roots-rockers the Blasters. After songwriter/guitarist Dave's departure for a solo career, Phil kept the group alive, but mostly on a local performance level, not as a recording unit. He released his first solo album in 1986, but it took him eight years to make another. Like its predecessor, COUNTY FAIR finds Phil Alvin backed by a shifting cast of characters, exploring an eclectic batch of American roots styles, from blues to country to R&B and rockabilly. On several songs, he's backed by the '90s version of the Blasters, but Alvin goes further afield in collaborations with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and singer Mary Franklin. The solo efforts of each brother underline what the other brought to the Blasters; Dave's singing has never been described as mellifluous and songwriting is not really Phil's forte. The strongest cuts on COUNTY FAIR are those where Phil draws on his encyclopedic knowledge of American musical history by covering obscure blues and R&B gems; the most effective moments are those where he accompanies himself on guitar and breathes new life into such Americana relics as "That Thing" and "Callin' Corrine."
