Track 1 : ' Rain ' .
The main single release , and a commercial success . An inovative catchy back beat , with very well delivered vocals . A song of love and hope .( also of note EP Rain Plus - which contains various remixes of this track plus a few other tracks thrown in for good measure ). 9/10
Track 2 : ' Worlds On Fire ' .
Upbeat and optomistic - a song about self esteem and belief in ones self . A favourite of mine.10/10
Track 3: ' Reach Out ' .
Hope for those left disappointed by one's partner in life . There is hope , there will be someone else , and so proclaims this song . Beautiful and melodic. 9/10
Track 4 : ' In My Arms ' .
Another single release , but not as well received as 'Rain' . A logical follow up to the previous track -'The walls keep tumbling down , but will be forever more' so the lyrics go . 7/10
Track 5 ; ' Don't Say Your Love Is Killing Me '.
Can you love someone too much - yes you can . Possession can be evil , and this song represents it . Finger tapping greatness . 8/10
Track 6 : ' Precious ' .
Melodramatic , moody . A song of love lost and all its sorrow . 6/10
Track 7 : ' Treasure ' .
Ritualistic , part operatic , part Red Indian . A song of dreams combining fantasic vocals and superb backing. 10/10
Track 8 : ' Boy' .
The male view . A song from Andy's point of view . A little too serious and moody , and not the usual Erasure thing. 5/10
Track 9 : ' How Can I Say ' .
Back to Erasure basics - great melody , good vocals , a thoroughly good song. 7/10
Track 10 : ' Save Me Darling ' .
A love song , delivered brilliantly by Andy , with muciscal; backing so suiting . 9/10 .
Track 11 : ' Love Affair ' .
The final track . A ballad that would have suited many a musical . A song of a relationship , which means different things to each other ' it's not just a love affair , it's now or never '. Just sums it up . 9/10 .
~0~ Conclusion ~0~
Not my favourite of Erasure albums , but never-the-less , worthy of anyone's CD collection , with great vocal delivery and some excellent songs , with real meanings to them on this album.

Advantages: Andy Bell's vocals, beautiful synth pop Disadvantages: Possibly Erasure's lull
Well, I have to start by saying that I have always been a BIG Erasure fan. I don't agree with those that say that you must be gay to enjoy their music. In my opinion, their sexual preferences should have no influence over the decision to like their easy listening pop treats.
I must admit to believing that this may not be their best effort, but it still contains some very noteworthy songs. It doesn't delve into the realms of trance experimentalism ... ...get reviewing...
----Rain----
The opener is a classic slice of Erasure pop, with a bopping bass track and various levels of synth surrounding Andy's glorious vocals. Classic chorus, but still not really at the standard we come to expect.
----Worlds on fire----
Aaaah! Here we go. This is more like it. A slower track with all the hallmarks of Andy and Vince's brilliant writing abilities.
----Reach out----
This one starts by bleeping, then begins ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Cowboy - Erasure"
Advantages: It's brave and a good introduction to Erasure Disadvantages: It's pointless if you already know the band
turned into a country ballad (there is criminal over-use of the slide guitar again on this track - have Vince and Andy been living in Texas?) with a sub-New Seekers riff, that detracts rather than enhances the sound.
There is a selection here from albums 'Cowboy', 'Wild!', 'Erasure', 'The Circus', 'Chorus', 'Loveboat' (which had some good acoustic tracks in their original form ) and 'I Say, I Say, I Say'.
But long-term fans will remember some earlier Erasure tracks re-recorded with an orchestra on 'The Two Ring Circus' to fantastic effect, with master arrange Andrew Poppy and compare this with that.
The one song which really benefits from the the new form is 'How Many Times?' - they have often played this acoustically live and on TV shows and know it works. It would easily reach top ten status if it was released.

< Does it work ? >
In a single word YES . Going acoustic has allowed Andy's vocals to show their true light , bringing the richer, more soulful depths of his vocal range to the fore . It also shows the beauty of Vinces musical scores . Sure the synth brings a certain quality to the original songs that many a group would give their soul for , however the selection of tracks used shows us the raw yet striking beauty ...
Advantages: One or Two good tracks Disadvantages: Tracks too Slow, nothing spectacular
such as Chorus or Cowboy, I have enclosed a list of their albums purely for information.

Erasure: Andy Bell (vocals); Vince Clarke (various instruments). The two-man English techno-pop band provides further evidence of its staying power on the duo's tenth album in as many years. COWBOY presents thirteen perfectly charming and elegantly composed dance tracks, rich with soaring melodies and otherworldly choruses sung by Andy Bell The technically impressive keyboard arrangements come courtesy of Bell's partner Vince Clarke. Standouts include the lush, romantic ballad "Worlds On Fire" and a cover Burt Bacharach's "Magic Moments," which Erasure originally recorded for the LORDS OF ILLUSION soundtrack. As irresistible as they've ever been, Erasure give no hint of winding down anytime in the foreseeable future.
