Pantera's "Cowboys From Hell" is the bands first release on a major label and is the second album featuring Phil Anselmo. This saw the emergence of a heavier, more aggresive sound compared to the bands four previous albums. Which thankly turns out to a step in the right direction, getting away ... Read review

...and most memorable songs!
Cowboys From Hell (4.07) This is a classic pantera song, starting off with the repeating open E string, Dimebag plays a lead over the top. The classic pantera rhythm smashes in, with Dimebag's amazing tone giving the band a unique sound. The singing here is amazing, I really like this singer and this song really does him justice. The solo fits in perfectly, with Dimebag showing off his fine skills with the solo, and the ... ...teh song Dimebag has his way and has a magnificent solo, and plays some very good interlude's!
Rating: 9/10
This album isnt Pantera at it's best, but it has many a classic and well known song on here. Cemetary Gates, Cowboys From Hell and Domination probably being the best. ...

Advantages: One of the best ways to spend an hour of your life Disadvantages: None
Opening with the signature tone of Dimebag's heavily distorted six string and one of the most instantly recognisable riffs in metal: the anthemic 'Cowboys from Hell' of which the album takes its name. This album transcends head and shoulders above most of it's contemporarys in the 'thrash' genre. Phil Anselmo delivers some of his finest vocal displays demonstrating his astounding vocal range and lyrical offerings. 18 years since the recording of ... ...or beauty with lyrical content of betrayal, love and loss being as relevant as ever today as it was in nearly 2 decades ago. When paired with undeniably one of the greatest string and rhythm sections ever; the 1990 seminal metal classic delivers bone-crunching rhythm sections with melodic leads that can only attributed to one of the most influential bands to have ever graced the collective metal genre.
Featuring staple live songs such as 'Domination', ...

Advantages: Cool Title track Disadvantages: The rest of the album lacks what made pantera great
Runtime: 57:37 you can normally pick it up for around 8 quid or in the bargin bin as it is very dated. I got my copy as part as a 4 for £20 deal in HMV
Tracklist: 1.Cowboys from hell
2. Primal Concrete Sledge
3. Psycho Holiday 4. Heresy 5. Cemetery Gates 6. Domination 7. Shattered 8. Clash With Reality 9. Medicine Man 10. Message In Blood 11. The Sleep 12. The Art Of Shredding
1.Cowboys from hell: Really good title track, brutal metal with heavy ... ...bands. Pantera at their best.
2. Primal Concrete Sledge: Moving on , this song is really tedious and boring, it seems like its sung with no tone. cool guitars but the lead singer has really let himself down.
3. Psycho Holiday : A bit more brutal and more like pantera but could do without the iron maiden like screeching.
4.Heresy: I actualy swear this is iron maiden, as you can gather by now i dont like iron maiden.
5.Cemetery Gates : I really ...

Pantera's major label release.. after a 80s career in Glam Rock Pantera hit the mainstream with the release of Cowboys.. A highly influental and classical album with many great standout tracks.. Pantera at its finest! Dimebags playing and guitar tone set the standards for Metal music during the 90s and Cowboys continues to inspire and influence many of todays bands!

Advantages: Fast and Thrilling Disadvantages: Lock up your Granny!
...Vulgar Display of Power. Pantera's second ground-breaking heavy metal album. Released in 1992, it features some of Pantera's heaviest songs, such as F***ing Hostile (4), a real mosh-pit track. I bought this album a couple of years ago on the off-chance that it would have been as good as their previous work (CowboysFromHell). I feel it is one of their best-known albums because of the tracks that are on it. Walk (3) has to be one of the most imfamous Pantera songs, after CowboysFromHell (of the same titled album). I love this album so much due to its original complexity, and timeless classic lyrics, sung by the unique voice of Phillip Anselmo, guitar riffs from Dime Bag Darrel and drums from Vinnie Paul, and not forgetting Rex on bass. A perfect collaboration of musical talent, and creditable individuality throughout. Howvever...

Advantages: Awesome songs and vocal style Disadvantages: None
...This is, put quite simply, an amazing metal album. Released after their first label debut "CowboysFromHell", "Vulgar" ups the ante in everyway. Gone are the Rob Halford screams and glam-rock tendencies of "CFH". Vocalist Phil Anselmo delivers a more brutal, aggressive vocal style which suits the harder music perfectly. The great thing is, the vocals are still very defined and clear which really adds to the experience of this album.
The trio of Diamond (Dimebag on later releases) Darrell, Vinnie Paul on the Drums and Rex Brown on Bass combine to make an earth shattering and precise musical explosion, containing some of Pantera's Best work. The album has variety without being a mish-mash of styles, it is a focused record where every song has that distinct Pantera sound. They coined the phrase "Power Groove", well this album...

Anybody who listens to rock music more than on just a casual basis, has been around for the last decade or two, and while doing so has delved into the hardrock / metal subgenre, will probably at least have heard of a band called PANTERA. These Texas-based, self-proclaimed "CowboysFromHell" (album #5) have played heavy and hair metal in their early days, went on to thrash and groove metal, or "Power Metal" (another, earlier, album title), whatever you might call it, and kicked some serious ass: pounding, grating, shredding, screaming and shouting their way into living legend status. Thinking of musical neighbours, various bands such as BLACK SABBATH, ANTHRAX, SKID ROW (with whom they once toured), TESTAMENT and MEGADETH spring to mind, but basically PANTERA did their own thing, becoming more and more aggressive during...
