Opening with the signature tone of Dimebag's heavily distorted six string and one of the most instantly recognisable riffs in metal: the anthemic 'Cowboys from Hell' of which the album takes its name.
This album transcends head and shoulders above most of it's contemporarys in the 'thrash' genre. Phil Anselmo delivers some of his finest vocal displays demonstrating his astounding vocal range and lyrical offerings.
18 years since the recording of the album it loses none of it's meaning, brutality, vitriol or beauty with lyrical content of betrayal, love and loss being as relevant as ever today as it was in nearly 2 decades ago.
When paired with undeniably one of the greatest string and rhythm sections ever; the 1990 seminal metal classic delivers bone-crunching rhythm sections with melodic leads that can only attributed to one of the most influential bands to have ever graced the collective metal genre.
Featuring staple live songs such as 'Domination', 'Cowboys from Hell' and the 7 minute epic 'Cemetary Gates' - the album received acclaim from both critics and fans.
Testament to the band, nearly 6 years on from their disbandment and nearly quarter of a century since their formation this album still is a fantastic introduction to Pantera for a whole new generation of metal fans.
A must have in any metal music collection.
