Communication is an innuendo of our sanity, vanity is a veneration of sanity and Crash and Burn is a sensation of musical wonder.
A song of strong hope and attritions, a song of deep meaning and powerful messages. A focus on communication in this one, and a very clever play upon words in order to create such a thing. Communication is a beautiful thing, this song displays that in an un-before seen way. A savage wonder in it’s self and a master of musical rhythmic beauty.
This is the song for loneliness. It’s based upon some one who has just about had enough, and is about ready to end it all. Its aim, I feel, is to put across the point, that there is always some one to turn to. How life isn’t that bad. (Life is full of heartaches and pain, but when it’s over you'll breathe again). It’s a beautiful melodic and dramatic Ballad, and one that every one can enjoy. Every one gets down some times, and this is the song to listen to when you feel like that, It gives the impression that, regardless of however bad you feel, however lonely you get, it will always get better, The key is to work through it.
There will always be someone to turn to, “when hopes and dreams are far away, and you feel like you can’t face the day – let me be the one you call”. Communication is the key, if only you can find the lock. Unlock your mind, your heart and your soul, you will get through your struggles, your traumas will become triumphs, if only you would just believe. Believe in yourself, the love around you, and feel comforted by it. The grass is always greener on the other side; I promise you’ll come out smelling of roses.
Some would describe it as a love song, because of the tune etc, but, if you listen to the lyrics carefully, you will see what I’m getting at. It does have a very slow lovey dovey, last dance type tune, (typical of Savage Garden), so this is where, I think alot of confusion arises.
The fact is, as in most of Savage's songs, this song is like a story, only this time, a meaningful life story. Whether or not this was based on the experiences of the band members is not an issue although I would leave to your best judgement.
Regardless of what type of music you are into, I really do advise that you take a few minutes to just listen hard to the song, and I guaranty something deep down inside you will stir. The combination of musical genius and fitting lyrics is absolutely brilliant and displays great talent rarely seen in today's music.
Finally… I really do advise you take the chance to hear this wonderful ballad. Don’t miss out, its real quality, not to be missed.
