Advantages: The next best thing to a CCR greatest hits Disadvantages: None
"Cosmo's Factory" was significantly the only Creedence album to top the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. Excluding best-ofs, it remains their ultimate set. Included are four tracks released as singles around the same time (summer and autumn 1970), a couple of 50s rock'n'roll faces, "Ooby Dooby" and "My Baby Left Me", an old blues standard, "Before You Accuse Me", and a couple of longer, more improvisational cuts. The 11-minute "I Heard it Through the Grapevine" had always polarised opinion; some (including fans of the Marvin Gaye original) praised it as one of the first successful rock covers of a soul number, while others thought it either sacrilege or an unnecessary way of filling up playing time. "Ramble Tamble", at over 7 minutes, is really two pieces of music welded together, a brisk riff-driven song to open and close ...
Advantages: Genuine, All Time Classic Disadvantages: More Songs needed
Creedence Gold is a good introduction to the world of CreedenceClearwaterRevival. A band dominated by the Fogerty brothers, had huge success in the 70’s and is considered a landmark in 70’s music. This CD includes 8 of their biggest hits, such as Proud Mary Bad moon rising and the Midnight Special. It also includes two of the best covers ever, I heard it through the Grapevine and Suzie Q. Although, big in length the passion and artistic ingenuity of these two, leave every listener satisfied from the quality. In whole, this album is a MUST have, without any doubt. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to listen to something with quality. Also the fact that this is an almost 30 years album shows the quality I’m talking about. ...
Advantages: Classic American Rock Disadvantages: None to mention
It's one of those songs that comes on the radio. You like it, but don't ever catch, or remember who sang it. That was Bad Moon Rising.
But, when you find the band - CreedenceClearwaterRevival (CCR for short) you find more classics. Proud Mary is another timeless classic song on this album. CCR's treatment of I heard it through the grapevine is fantastic with a wonderful long guitar solo in the middle. Down on the Corner, Lodi and Looking out my back door will all have you singing along before too long!
If you like guitar music that you can sing along to then this is for you. A quality compilation of the best bits for those who want to dip their toes into the clearwater pool. ...
