Almost the perfect introduction to Bon Jovi. One of the all time populist bands Bon Jovi have withstood many a musical trend and this disc sums up the first ten years of their career decently. Greatest hits on the whole are not for die hard fans but for casual listners and new comers to an artists music. If you are a die hard Bon Jovi fan then you could probably compile your own hits package of your personal, maybe more obscure offerings; as a new listner though this disc serves up the fist pumping anthems and ballads that will breed familiarity on first listen. The songs really speak for themselves, most being hits from their various multi platinum albums. Livin' on a Prayer, You gave Love a Bad Name, Wanted Dead or Alive, Never Say Goodbye, Lay your Hands on Me, Bad Medicine, and I'll be There for You showcase the days when Bon Jovi dominated the rock n pop scene. While others like Bed of Roses, In These Arms, and Always sit perfectly as hits in their own rights. Basically these are the songs which made Bon Jovi famous and shaped who and where they are to this day. If you fail to like these songs then there is no use buying other Bon Jovi offerings. To round off this disc is perfect for the new listener and will give you a snapshot of Bon Jovi in their pomp (Although it is worth mentioning the band has released five studio albums since the release of this). Hardcore fans, (who probably own this already) will be lookin for something more eclectic, and would be better suited opting for the later Box set of B sides.
