The story revolves around two Marshal-arts warriors and friends, Li Mu Bai (Chow Yun-Fat) and Yu Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh) in 18th-Century China. CrouchingTigerHiddenDragon takes place during the Qing Dynasty and tells the story of woman and men warriers and a sword known as the Green Destiny. I was utterly confused when watching this movie and had a hard time grasping my head around the plot. This story line was very difficult to follow and was needed to be searched on the Internet to discover the plot. In my opinion, the movie didn't answer any questions that were set up in the beginning of the movie, and at the conclusion left the viewer wondering what happened to the main character. Overall, although this movie had good effects, the plot and the characters of the story were to confusing that it was distracting from the effects included. Personally, I beleive that CrouchingTigerHiddenDragon was a pointless movie in which there was no plot but just a series of random ...
CrouchingTigerHiddenDragon is simply the best foreign language film ever made. For a foreign film to be nominated for the Best Picture Oscar, something special has to have happened. It did. Ang Lee has created a masterpiece by manipulating the presentation of martial arts, so often presented as gritty hard-hitting action, into a free-flowing art form. Previous to this film, the only Ang Lee I had seen was Ride With The Devil, but this film made that look pathetic.
