Not a greatly heralded soundtrack but a top quality one nevertheless. Once you see Ryan Phillippe cruising in a sportscar to Placebo’s “Every Me, Every You” the soundtrack is appealing, and it is full of good songs.
While the songs were cleverly placed in the film the soundtrack gives you the chance to enjoy the tracks by themselves, which most of the songs are deserving of. Blur, Fatboy Slim, The Verve, Counting Crows and Skunk Anansie all feature on a star-studded soundtrack.
Furthermore the songs are not just piecemeal offerings from these groups, they are top quality tracks (why “Colorblind” by Counting Crows is not more popular is something I fail to understand).
As with most soundtracks there are a few weak links, but out of 14 tracks the quality is exceptional. It is also excellent value for money as it is something you will dig out and play over and over again.
