Amidst the back-stabbing, treachery and jealousy, Cruel Intentions is actually a pretty sensual movie. And that's what the soundtrack is like - sensual, cool, contemporary.
Aside from the over-played "Praise You"by Fatboy Slim and "Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve (which are great pieces of music, mind you!), the other tracks aren't the sort to command radio time due to their lack of mass appeal...and that's why I love them!
There's the melancholic "Colour Blind"by Counting Crows (you can never go wrong with Counting Crows!), the beautiful sensual voice of Craig Armstrong in "This Love", a soulful ballad "You can make a Killing" by Aimee Mann, the upbeat rhythms of Faithless with "Addictive"...
Why is this soundtrack great? Because it makes you feel young without feeling childish (think pop princesses), mature but not old, cool but not cold. But most of all, it's great because you'll listen to it over and over again, and get your money's worth!
