Well this album was hyped up way too much. The thing that got trivium famous was matt Heafy's Screaming and then catchy lyrics (i.e Like light to flies) on this album it seems to have gone and he is trying to be James Hetfield and trivium have turned into a Metallica Tribute Band. You could tell this was coming because when they were first on tour in the Uk Matt Heaffy Screamed like on the Cd but then slowly but surely it went to trying to be like james hetfield.
Dont get me wrong there are a few good songs like Detonation and Anthem but it is nothing on Ascendancy, I believe as matty got older his voice started to change and so he couldnt scream like he could before so now corey has to scream on the older songs.
Before this album i was obsessed with Trivium i loved like light to flies, Gunshot to the head of Trepidation, all of Ascendancy. Now i still listen to Ascendancy but not Detonation. To me they are trying to much to be like Metallica,
The solos are great, everything apart from the singing is great. If you want to hear trivium at their Best Buy Ascendancy If you want to Hear a Metallica Tribute band buy this.
This is just my opinion you may like it but as i am more into the old Trivium it is not my cup of tea.
