Ok, so maybe I am biased because Breed 77 (pronounced seven-seven, or siete-siete) are my favourite band, but I am here to tell you why that is.

hail from Gibraltar; it may actually raise this band to a whole new level. Like System of a Down or Sepultura, Breed 77 are hugely influenced by their cultural background--in their particular case, Middle Eastern and Spanish music (especially flamenco). The result is a fresh, new and exciting sound that's neither gimmicky nor trite. A lot of that is down to the skill of guitarists Pedro Caparros and Danny Felice, who can switch from deft finger plucking to head-banging thrash in the blink of an eye (as they do on "La Ultima Hora" and "Resurrection"), while Pete Chichone's drumming throughout is worthy of even Max Cavalera. Of course, some songs are more straightforward: "A Matter of Time" is pretty basic rock, while "The River" is a radio-friendly ballad worthy of bigger things. But Breed 77 are at their best when they're doing both things at once (as on "World's on Fire" and "Individuo"). Cultura is, quite simply, an outstanding rock album. --Robert Burrow

Advantages: Individual sound that will appeal to those who like something a little different and who prefer their rock/metal with vocals that can be heard. Disadvantages: It's definately not for everybody and not a mainstream album. I had a little trouble finding it so the best bet is to buy it online.

When you pick up the album, at first it may seem a little dark and imposing, but take a closer look at the artwork, and you will see an immediate reflection into the band's music. Immediately now, you can hear the incredible, spine-tingling and purely individual sound of Paul Isola's vocals that, so unlike many Metal bands, are audible and clear over the music, and do the thought-provoking lyrics great justice.

When you pick up the album, at first it may seem a little dark and imposing, but take a closer look at the artwork, and you will see an immediate reflection into the band's music. The cover art, by Breed's front man Paul Isola, has layers to it and these can be heard when you listen to the album. It begins with "Voices"; an into track, it sets the mood for the fist song. Immediately now, you can hear the incredible, spine-tingling and purely individual sound of Paul Isola's vocals that, so unlike many Metal bands, are audible and clear over the music, and do the thought-provoking lyrics great justice. The music is of a good quality, with riffs that are imaginative and not simply the basic, humdrum tunes that are over-used by so many modern bands, and instrumentals and solos that float to the ears and sweep across the mind like a beautiful summer breeze. Definitely air guitar material; here are men that know and love their music. Breed 77's influences, some being quite obvious, do affect their overall sound. The Latin style is from their background, with the majority of the band hailing from Gibraltar, and means flamenco guitars and the occasional Spanish lyric are beautifully crafted with the more expected loud guitars and drumbeats of the average metal band. Other bands they list as influences, while not clearly audible immediately, all roll together to form Breed's unique sound. The tracks themselves are a good mix throughout the album, so it doesn't just feel like listening to one long song. From the roaring, heavy feel of "World's on Fire" and fan favourite "La Ultima Hora" to the gentle and gorgeous acoustic and strings of "The River" and a sumptuous acoustic version of "Breaking the Silence" Breed explore their full potential on this album much more than they did on their previous, self titled, album and seem on the whole to have a much more mature and fully grown sound.
I recommend this album to anyone who likes Metal or a twist of individuality in their Rock, as well as fans of better-known Latino rock such as Santana who are out to find something a little different.

Advantages: Very unique soundtrack and will be a must for have for rockers Disadvantages: Aren't that popular and will be hard to get a copy of album
This album is one of the first albums I have ever listened to and got hooked on to from the first time. Something like this doesn't happen to me but for this album it felt very unique to me.
The album has a various collection of tracks all with different vibes, some more sped up and some slower. The best tracks to listening for are 'The River' and 'World's On Fire' even the lyrics on these are awesome.
For those that are pure rock fans, they will ... ...to have a littletaste of rock and are abit awkard as to what to look for, I would recommend this album as it will have atleast 1 thing you will like. And don't go thinking that everything rock must be heavy and hardcore just open up your horizons I bet you won't look back on the day you turned over to Breed 77 :D I promise!

Ciao members have rated this review on average: somewhat helpful Review of Cultura - Breed 77
The follow up to 2002's self titled album is the British (via Gibraltar) band's fourth full length. Seven years of touring the UK circuit has had an obvious impact on the band's sound as this album sees their tribal-metal sound take a step further. 'Cultura' has a more polished sound, veering more towards nu-metal acts such as Il Nino and Soulfly than the hardcore influences the band used to evoke.
