Album Notes: Formed by members of two disbanded Welsh outfits-- noise-rockers McCluskey and electro-punks Jarcrew-Future of the Left picks up where both those bands left off. The band's debut, CURSES, is full of surging, nervous, and fractured post-punk tendencies, following a line back to genre icons like Pere Ubu and the Pixies.
Album Reviews: Spin (p.94) - 3.5 star out of 5 -- "CURSES is so audaciously over the top you just have to laugh in delighted appreciation."
Advantages: Some great tunes, top vocals, Disadvantages: bit too long, no good for people who hate ballads!
...JIMMY EAT WORLD
FUTURES
2004
-----------------------------
Jimmy Eat World are one of those bands that nobody knew for years then suddenly they have a breakthrough album and suddenly they are in everyone’s cd collection.
Well they are back again with a new album, and a bit of a new sound.
The band formed way back in 1993, and did some tours released some Ep’s and just generally gained a small fan base.
In 1994 they released their debut album, which was self titled and released on a small Indie label.
After this the band was quickly signed up to Capitol Records, and released second album ‘Static Prevails’ in 1996.
This was a very rough, quite punky affair which had its moments but ultimately was a slight let down.
On to 1999 and the bands third album ‘Clarity’, and here we see the band sounding completely different...

Advantages: Well written lyrics Disadvantages: Not as good as previous releases
...Most people believe this to be Atreyu's breakthrough into the mainstream. With the first single 'Right Side of The Bed' getting a lot of plays on music tv, the band instantly became popular because of this. However, I believe this to be one of the worst songs Atreyu have made. 'Suicide Notes And Butterfly Kisses' is a much greater album, with a more all round appeal, whereas 'The Curse' contains a few hits, like 'Bleeding Mascara'. Also, their EP 'Fractures In The Facade of Your Porcelain Beauty' contains few songs, but all more impressive than some of 'The Curse''s. Since their first EP 'Visions', Atreyu have changed to become a more paletable band for most, and have recieved a lot of anger from some fans because of it.
This band make a great live act, but are not for the more hardcore kids out there. They are more of a transition...

Advantages: Great album, good production Disadvantages: few bad tracks
...- The Curse
Track 1 - A dream (Feat. Faith and Biggie) - This is has got a steady beat that is catchy. The beat has scratching in the background, I feel this suits this song and makes it a good track. In this track it features Faith Evans (sings the chorus) and The late Notorious BIG. The verse from Biggie is from his hit Juicy. This is a great tribute to his friend and shows he has a lot of respect for him. 9/10
Track 2 - Hovi Baby - This song you may have heard some of the lyrics before as they featured in a basketball Reebok advert a while back.
"Touch the untouchable, break the unbreakable, Shake the unshakeable it's Hovi baby, Yeah, ch-chi-uh, uh-ch-ch-uh, un-breakableRock the unrockable it's Hovi baby"
This song is a good track the beat is brilliant and the lyrics are very good one of my favourite songs from this album. 8...
