We had The Show, we had the Encore, now its time for the Curtain Call. As the expression goes, all great things must come to an end. This is the end of an era for one of rap's, and music's, biggest stars. In my opinion, he was one of the biggest stars of the music industry over the past decade, singing with the likes of Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and also 50 cent. I grew fond of listening to his vocal talents ever since i heard him for the first time ( The Real Slim Shady). Now for the album review.
1 - Intro 6/10 The CD begins with another one of eminems concert style intros. This one has more of a 60's romantic style music, however, nothing special in this.
2 - FACK 8/10 This is one of the few tracks he sang especially for this album. He sings from a mans perspective about having sex with a woman and how he likes to f**k f**k f**k.
3 - The Way I Am 9/10 This song is uplifted from his previous album, The Marshall Mathers LP. This was his dedication to the media and people who have sued him. He sings about how the media always blame him for anything bad that happens. "And all of this controversy circles me and it seems like the media immediately points a finger at me". One of his best tracks ever.
4 - My name is
4/10 Not one of his best in my opinion. Uplifted from his album The Slim Shady LP, this is one of his humourous tracks. He talks about his poor upbringing and how he was a failure in school.
5 - Stan 8/10 This track displays his true writing talent. It comes from the perspective of a obsessive fan who has a personal relationship with Eminem. Stan writes letters to Em asking for advice and support as they both had similar upbringings but Em is not able to reply due to his busy lifestyle. The personal status of Stan's life gets to him and he commits suicide by driving his car into a river with his pregnant girlfriend tied up in the back. This song is taken from The Marshall Mathers LP.
6 - Lose Yourself 9/10 From the soundtrack of 8 Mile, this song briefly outlines the position of Rabbit in the film. He is a young amateur rapper who fails at freestyles because of his nerves. He finally has the courage in him to battle with the leading rappers and manages to outperform them. Em abandons his Slim Shady/F**k the world image and writes a very thoughtful song. Enough to boost confidence in anyone.
7 - Shake That 9/10 Another song especially for this album. He sings with Nate Dogg. Not much to write about for this track apart from one line that i find funny. "Smoke so much weed, and i get more ass then a toilet seat"
8 - Sing for the Moment 7/10 From The Eminem Show, this song has a sample from Aerosmith's "Dream on". Eminem sings about how and why kids are drawn to him. He believes his young fans relate to him in one way or another which is why they listen to his music and forget about their worries.
9 - Without Me 8/10 His most funniest track so far, Em uses a Batman and Robin style storyline, stopping a young child from listening to a explicit CD. Sort of similar in genre to My Name Is and Real Slim Shady. Also from Eminem Show
10 - Like Toy Soldiers 10/10 This is probably Eminems most serious track so far. He explains to us the rap game and how rivalries are affecting it. It samples Time after Time by Cyndi Lauper. Taken from Encore.
11 - The Real Slim Shady 8/10 Another one of his funny tracks taken from The Marshall Mathers LP. Sings about his alter ego and how many people want to be like him. Mostly about his attitude to others.
12 - Mockingbird 10/10 This song is probably the most emotional song Em has ever sang along with When Im Gone. This one is dedicated to his daughter. He sings about how much his daughter means to him and how they miss each other whenever hes away on business. He also sympathises with her on her feelings towards her parents relationship. Taken from Encore.
13 - Guilty Conscience 1/10 Probably the worst track he has ever sang. He represents the devil in this song, always promoting the evil option to other peoples probelems. Dr Dre is meant to be the more peaceful alternative but gives up in the end. Taken from Slim Shady LP. Dont know how this song ended up on the Greatest Hits album.
14 - Cleanin Out My Closet 7/10 Dedicated to his mother about how she treated him harshly in his younger days and his ex girlfriend. Mostly a self explanatory title. Here, Em once again puts forward his thoughts on his fame, ex-wife, and mother without sounding repetitive of older songs. Uplifted from Eminem Show
15 - Just Lose It 8/10 Pokes fun at Michael Jackson and his "child molestation accusations". Cracks me up everytime i listen to this song. Kind of snide to make these kind of remarks about someone but its too funny for me to argue with. Taken from Encore
16 - When Im Gone 12/10 This is Em's final track. Its like a 3 minute long goodbye. He explains the reason why he is quitting music which is because he wants more time to spend with his daughter. One of the most emotional parts of this song is the chorus in which he says "When im gone, dont mourn, rejoice everytime you hear the sound of my voice, just know that im looking down on you smiling, and i didnt feel a thing so baby dont feel no pain"
17 - Stan Live (ft Elton John) 5/10 Personally i prefered the original with Dido better. This was perofrmed live at the Grammy awards a couple of years ago. Same as the original Stan but with Elton John playing piano and singing Dido's lines. Cant see why he closed the album on this track, it would have been better closing it on When Im Gone.

Well, there you go, a full length review of his new album which will hit the shelves December 2 2005. Comments appreciated.
UPDATED 27/11/05: There will also be Deluxe Edition versions that have 2 discs. The bonus disc will contain "Stan's Mix-Tape". These include 7 tracks of Eminem rarities. These Eminem tracks do not exist on current Eminem U.S. releases. They are: 1-Dead Wrong 2-Role Model 3-Kill You 4-S**t On You 5-Criminal 6-Renegade 7-Just Don't Give A F**k
These are his underground releases which i dont think ever made it to the charts.

Advantages: Great lyrics from one of the greatest rappers in existant, passionate in places, and three original tracks Disadvantages: Sadly, it is little more than a "Best Of" album. More on that inside....
