Advantages: good mix of 'moods', good length, balance of experimentation and classic rock Disadvantages: tracks with numbers in are a little disturbing, and the cover doesn't say who the artist is
This was the first JohnFrusciante album that I bought, but after hearing it I was prompted to buy all 9 other albums, it really was that good. It is totally impossible to compareit with any other artist, so I won't try. 'Carvel' is the best track, but other greats include 'omission', 'Ricky', 'Wednesday's song', 'This cold', 'song to sing when i'm lonely', and 'Water'. The not so good tracks are the ones with numbers in, as they're pretty much just wierd noises. Great guitars and vocals, Josh Klinghoffer's vocals on 'omission' are beautiful. Also, the official JohnFrusciante website has all these tracks (except for those with numbers in) performed live and acousitcally if you're interested, which you should be. ...
Advantages: Original, raw, excellent quality of guitar playing, great lyrics Disadvantages: short album
Wow! This album is incredible, a must have for anyone who has ever been touched by the beautiful sound of an acoustic guitar. The simplicity of this album shines through more than anything(it was recorded in his living room). The sound is raw and untouched, a rareity in the musical world today.
When i first heard this album i was slightly disappointed in the way it didn't seem to have the same 'vibes' as other work by johnFrusciante;I thought it sounded like some kind of country western record! But i found myself listening to it in bed at night before i go to sleep, as it gave me the comforted and soothed feelings that i had as a small child in my mother's arms.
Four months on, and this album has grown on me so much. I can now say that it is possibly the most beautiful and moving collection of music i have ever listened to. I ...
Advantages: beautiful and consistently hugh quality music Disadvantages: long length of songs can be excessive sometimes.
As a fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, i was keen to listen to JohnFrusciante's solo work and i have not been disappointed. As his 10th solo album he has create one of the most consistently beautiful and calming albums i have ever heard. His style of guitar playing that became evident in Stadium Arcadium by The Red Hot Chili Peppers is further developed in this unique album. It is the first of his solo work that i have listened to and i can't get enough of it. With each listening i hear something new in the music and it always has a soothing effect on me with its slightly religious like quality. The lyrics reflect this religious theme quite heavily with songs such as God and Heaven but they add to the songs and are not delivered in way that Frusciante is trying to preach. He displays his range of ability as he sings and plays guitar ...
