Cutting Razor (Rare Cuts From The Black Ark) - Lee 'Scratch' Perry

...It does not get much better than this. Back in 1967 lee perry and the upsetters were making and braking ground in jamica with their roots reggae. Perry is firmly at the controls on this release and everything really seems to just come together, the harmony singing, the heavy rumbling bass (i mean HEAVY) and rhythm. For anyone with any liking for dub reggae this is essential. Truly great piece of work. Lee perrys studio the black ark was burned down a number of years later but thankfully this seminal record really captures the great sound from the black ark for posterity. A sweet sweet record that hits all the right bottons with the only complaint being that it has quite a short playing time over the 10 tracks. Enjoy... Read review

...and Donald Byrd were cut. In the early seventies Vynilartists already scratched&moved such as Grandmaster Flash already mixed and even let tapes of Revox fly. The jazz always injected the HipHop the certain Flavor. Under the guidance of host Guru succeeds to the young musicians with the " volume 1 " from " Jazzmatazz " in my opinion a bridging of the generations. Page A: the Mentor Guru speaks the introduction, all participating musician are introduced. The jazz becomes motive, only one trumpet run, a loop becomes audible and simultaneous here to the mental origin of Jazzmatazz. " loungin " underlaid of fat Beats is able to blew your radio. Guru goes as a singer into action; as always self-confident and positively and its HipHop dream occurs. ...a lot of ideas for cover versions yet had little original ideas. In an effort to avoid the normal studio grind the band relocated to the Cenacle, an isolated country estate that had once served as a convent. However, with the band starting to receive substantial amounts of money, there were more distractions (Porsches, Ferraris and even machine guns) than inspiration. One of the ideas of the relocation was to keep Steven Tyler and Joe Perry away from access to drugs so that they could focus on work. Instead the two spent more time either with their toys or locked away in their separate rooms getting high for days at a time. Band relations were more strained than ever before with Perry and Tyler remaining in their rooms and rarely turning up to play, and even then able to play.
