Advantages: a good headliner song and a few good picks Disadvantages: too much loving himself and little creativty
Released in 2004 LL Cool J (James Todd Smith) returns from Hollywood blockbusters to attempt to shine on the music scene. Having been around for about 20 years he certainly has the experience but over all I was slightly disappointed in this album. The few notable songs on the album are Headsprung and the pick of the many slow songs which fill up the album.
Headsrpung the first single released and the best song on the album. It did ... ...big radio plays. Has the best beat, good lyrics and will have the longest longevity and remembrance of all the songs on the album.
Rub my back repetitive beat doesn't do much, chorus doesn't catch you as much as it probably should and in fact gets quite annoying by the end, some better parts though

It did the round and everyone knows it from either clubs or big radio plays. Has the best beat, good lyrics and will have the longest longevity and remembrance of all the songs on the album.
Rub my back repetitive beat doesn't do much, chorus doesn't catch you as much as it probably should and in fact gets quite annoying by the end, some better parts though
Im about to get her feat R.Kelly has a nice almost south American sound to it, Kelly adds a different angle to the vocals and works well with LL though the song does have an outdated 'through your hands in the air' which kind of spoils it but is a nice easy song to listen to. In fact R Kelly's in it so much you forget who's song it is by the end
Move something - trys to up the tempo of the album. Lyrics appear to be a bit limited obviously LL believes describing a dance move is a song. The songs gets a bit repetitive and seems to be trying to hard to be a club 'banger' when it just doesn't have the rhythm or sound to pull it off. Though its not all bad except for the odd keyboard sound.
Hush - the second single release. A nice slow song where LL really shines against the melodic background.
Every sip production by Timbaland. A very R&B sounding song with Candice Nelson singing throughout the chorus.
Shake it baby showing off but and generally talking himself up over a quite dull beat and repetitive choice. cant explain it - sounds like a very slow R&B cut, this is where LL seems to be at his best and sounds good over the deep bass beat and nice guitar. Lines such as your going to the toilet, its ok i know what for are common place on this obviously female orientated track.
Feel The Beat bragging about how good he is nice beat he flows of it well. I'm the greatest of all time, you've heard that before, but now when I say it it means to much more an example of his often exaggerated bragging.
Apple Cobbler a bit too electrical too much background shouting and slight screams, even the lyrics aren't that good, doesn't seem like hes working with the beat but working instead of it
The album has a very R&B feel and there are very few 'exciting' songs and plenty of chill out and relax, which is a good representation of the man himself who exercises what he has preached in his songs stretching his long and sometimes illustrious career. I think the album generally has a good flow let down by a few odd choices or poor 'parts' of songs however it is still a good piece of work by LL if is may not have the quality to become a must in cd collections. LL lyrics sometimes lack creativity and stick to what he knows best which seems to be dancing, talking about women and mainly talking about his body, but sometimes LL does show off his lyrical ability.

Album Notes
While juggling a hectic acting career, long time rapper LL Cool J finds time to record and release his eleventh album for the legendary Def Jam label.
