...'s what I would describe as the classical music of the future. "Poor Leno" is one of my favourite tracks on here. The beats are really quite pumping, a full on dance track. The pace is rather quick for a Royksopp track. The house 4x4 is mingled with elements of tribal drums. What makes this track fantastic is the dinstinctive vocals by Erlend Oye. The lyrics are quite touching "Poor Leno where you'll be you'll go, where you'll be I know, where you'll be I'll find you." His vocals can hit the high notes but they aren't too overpowering, his vocals are almost emotionless but they fit perfect with the bounciness of the music itself. "A Higher Place" is more tough but still quite experimental. The drumbeat is slow but quite heavy, this is complimented with electronic effects that are perfect and almost make the melody itself. ...three great mix cds in one pack and mixed by the legendary dj hype. this cd is full of every style of drum n bass. this is a great way of hearing all styles in one mix set, from jump up to jazzy, dark and ragga and more soulfull tracks. not many people mix all style when djing drum n bass but hype does it and does it well. best thing of all they decided not to have an mc rapping over the tune and this is a great advantage to this cd and just lets the music do the talking. there are also a few vocal tracks on this cd aswell. there are so many styles/genres of drum n bass aspecially in britain [home of dnb] this cd really does all justice. there has some great exclusives versions of tracks on this as well which makes it even more special. everyone should have a copy of this for sure and even people that dont like drum n bass... ...One of the many infamous DJ Kicks albums, this one from the electro king of camp - Tiga. Tiga's, from Canada been around for many years, owns his own electro/house label called Turbo. I have been a fan of his music and mix CD's since I started gaining an interest in electroinc music. Some of his early CD's and productions were more on a techno vibe with his latest stuff on the more electro housey tip. Anyhow, this DJ Kicks installation is an oldy but really good, one of my favourites I have heard in the series. The style of it is mainly electro house with hints of disco and techno thrown into the mix, all tracks seemlessly mixed together in a nice progressive order.
