attitude with their (admittedly) unique brand of dope-tinged sleazy listening, and DJ Kicks acts as the perfect vehicle for a set of Eighteenth Street Lounge foundtracks. The pair are more than comfortable with the responsibility, supporting their own mixes with classics from Jazzanova and Rockers Hi-Fi with some ethnic eccentricity courtesy of Up Bustle and Out and self-proclaimed jazz hooligan Rainer Truby, who ruffles the feathers of Bobby Matos' "Guiro Electro." Cheery beats come from the studios of Karminksky Experience and A Forest Mighty Black, while the closing track is an exclusive from the lads themselves in the form of "It Takes A Thief."--Kingsley Marshall

Advantages: Thievery Corporation at the best Disadvantages: none
...Rob Garza and Eric Hilton deliver another opus of mixed genres like rock, breaks, future-bossa, dub, ethno…
After excellent The Richest man in Babylon album in 2003, The Cosmic Game is expected step forward, and not just that, it is breathtaking musical experience for TC fan’s but surely will attract new ones.
ThieveryCorporation is one unusual duet. They mix, blend and experiment with music and the products is finest music you could hear this days. If you like down tempo, jazz, boss nova, samba, oriental ethno, reggae and rock music, just try to imagine all this on one album. Then add some guests like Perry Farrell, David Byrne, Gunyan, Loulou, Notch, Sleepy Wonder, Verny Varela, The Flaming Lips and few others you’ll have The Cosmic Game.
Don’t let this make you think it is another remix type of album...

Advantages: Original, multi-cultural tunes and exotic interludes Disadvantages: Occasionally sounds repetitive, bland product design
...The ThieveryCorporation are an electronica duo based in Washington DC, "The Richest Man In Babylon" being their third full-length album. Their music boldly mixes many world music styles - including indian bhangra, brazilian bossa nova and reggae - all presented in a comforting lounge asthetic, perfect for lazy days or relaxing working music.
The duo consists of Rob Garza and Eric Hilton, who teamed up in 1995. You have undoubtedly heard many of their tunes, on tv shows, adverts & films (such as Vanilla Sky), and by listening to this album it's not difficult to see why they are so popular. They have evidently immersed themselves in a vast array of foreign cultures, fusing them together with modern elements such as acid jazz and funk, to create soulful & exotic masterpieces. In this way, it's almost impossible for their tracks not to...

Advantages: Nice variation of electro, house, disco and techno Disadvantages: Camp overtone
...One of the many infamous DJKicks albums, this one from the electro king of camp - Tiga.
Tiga's, from Canada been around for many years, owns his own electro/house label called Turbo. I have been a fan of his music and mix CD's since I started gaining an interest in electroinc music. Some of his early CD's and productions were more on a techno vibe with his latest stuff on the more electro housey tip.
Anyhow, this DJKicks installation is an oldy but really good, one of my favourites I have heard in the series. The style of it is mainly electro house with hints of disco and techno thrown into the mix, all tracks seemlessly mixed together in a nice progressive order. There is also quite a camp element in the album as he is prone to getting on the mic and singing a few lyrics. This is apparent in Miss Kitten's classic 'Madame...
