Advantages: A few scarface film samples Disadvantages: Nearly the whole thing
Many people have been influenced by the scarface film and the rap genre has especially referenced to it man songs. This is now an official compilation of songs with money, power and respect themes. as you would imagine, all are rap.
Put together in 2003, this def jam idea includes songs by Nas, Mobb Deep and Notorious BIG, some made especially for the album some old tracks that just fit. None appear in the film but there are samples and dialouge used from the picture.
Tracks
Its Mine - Mobb Deep & Nas. Scarface cues used as the sample in this one which was originally put t ogether in 99. A good relevant track to start the album
Yeo - Cam'ron. Samples Rush Rush which is used in the film, rush rush get the yayo may be more familiar. best bit about the song is actually the sample with cam'rons raps not adding much but loads ...
summary of the man himself. I got into DaveClarkeby listening to one of his remixes. My brother bought one of DaveClarke's remixes of Depeche Mode, I think the single was "I Feel Love". When I heard it, I didn't know what to think; he had taken the record and given it the biggest bassline ever; this was like nothing I had ever heard before and I was totally blown away. My curiousity about him grew as my brother told me of his legendary sets at Shine in Belfast and to hear this myself I bought one of his mix CD's "The World Service". And yet again I was blown away; it was amazing and this opened my eyes to a whole new genre of music I had never explored before. So here is his album "The Devil's Advocate", released in 2003 and still one of my favourite albums to date.
"Way of Life" kicks the album off; the big authrotive beat from the word ...
Advantages: packed full of hits, some lesser known, as well as a CD of new anthems in the making Disadvantages: Heard them all before? Possibly! But we still love them
new to trance, some may be, or if you are looking for a walk down memory lane and haven't bought one of these albums in a few years you may just enjoy what Dave has blended together. The albums saving grace is CD 3 which does have a more up-to-date selection of club tracks for your aural enjoyment.
So how does it breakdown? As i've said briefly, CD's 1 and 2 are made up of staple classic tracks from seminal trance artists such as Matt Darey, Chicane, Angelli & Nelson, Paul Van Dyk, Faithless, the list goes on! CD 3 brings us bang into 2009, or well more technically some of the tracks that were big towards the latter end of 2008. It would be unfair to judge this CD on the lack of real upfront 2009 tracks, having only been released 3 months into a new year.
For me personally, out of the 2 classic CD's, the second has to take all ...
