compilation of old funk cuts plundered by dance and hip hop for their breakbeats with 1988'sThe Breaks.Block Party Breaks Vol 2is his third breakbeat compilation and comes into a market saturated with LPs locating great, lost beats and samples. The appeal of these LPs (apart from their practical value to musicians) is both hearing familiar rhythms in original contexts (jungle's staple Amen break is featured on The Winston's "Amen Brother") and discovering absurdly obscure, long-forgotten funk workouts. Tracks by Dave Cortez&The Moon People, Magic Disco Machine and Juice haven't been commercially available since the 1970 s and sound like they've been hiding on imaginary blaxploitation and porn (especially Sesso Matto's moan-laded "Sesso Matto") soundtracks. Most cuts are raw funk (JB's horns, psychedelic guitar solos, dirty bass, wild drums) although Pogo looks to rock for Gong's "Esnuria" and Jeff Beck's howling "Come Dancing". Great for DJs/producers but also fab for anyone else who likes intensely gritty and excitable funk -Tony Marcus

Advantages: good music,various artists, good value for money, enjoyable Disadvantages: not for absolutely everyone
I have had Dj Hypes drum and bass arena album since around christmas last year, and i am still not bored of it.
It has a lot of different artists on it, with a range of different types of drum and bass.
I love to listen to this album when driving, tidying the house, or just doing nothing. it is a really good back round album when i have friends round too, as everyone enjoys the music it has on it.
I also love to dance to the songs on this album, but i do not let many people see me doing that !!!
I would really reccomend this album to anyone, it could suit many peoples music taste.
It is also pretty good value for money, seeing as there are so many artists on it. ...

Advantages: a good length, a nice mix of the elements of hip hop, clever and funny Disadvantages: not many that i can see.
Jurrasic Five feel to them. MC Paul Barman is also hilarious with his bonkers lyrics and mad jibes. Both songs on here warrant buying the albums of those artists, which was probably the idea, but worth it as they are tremendous artists in their own right.
At 36 tracks long, you might be fooled into thinking this is a long album, but the scratch skits are only short and so the album ends up being a nice length. It?s a good listen, well worth the money and the splitting sides. A nice mix of rap and DJing for all comers. Frankly if I had to pick, Vol.1 and 2 are DJ Yoda?s best work.
