Advantages: The 6 number 1 records Disadvantages: The rest of the tracks are rubbish
the Swiss chart where it was #4. The song itself certainly does contain elements of disco but then the French were always behind trends as far as music went.
5. Don't Stop The Music - Dina Carroll. From 1990 so its at least 20 years too late to be considered disco and it charted in the UK at #84 so it couldn't possibly be considered a hit. It sounds more like a House/Funk fusion if I'm honest, not even slightly like disco.
6. Hit And Run Lover - Carol Jiani. From 1981, it reached #4 on the US Billboard Club Play Singles chart. Its very synth pop and sounds a lot like "Trapped" by Colonel Abrahams. Or "Searching" by Hazel Dean. Its one of those dance music tracks that was really popular in gay clubs that were still mourning the passing of disco and would buy anything that sounded remotely like it.
7. Hang On In There Baby - Johnny Bristol ...
Advantages: makes you dance and smile Disadvantages: sad to some, but who cares
Whitehouse toe tapping.
Many of the tracks have been re-released by variousartists and been big hits; Relight my Fire:Take That, Lady Marmalade:All Saints, More Than a Women: 911, OK many dodgy covers, but it has ensured that the tracks live on.
I have to say that many of the bands/artistes on the CD I had never heard of, even though I class myself as a bit of a music anorak. Although I did recognise and like many of the tracks, so that must prove the power of many of these hits......? Be it disco classic or karaoke classic, most will know some of them!
My personal favourites include the tracks I always request at parties as soon as the disco man plays just one 70's disco track.....
le freak – standard wild dancing and arm flinging about boogie track
boogie nights – groovy dance tune
play that funky music – strut ...
Advantages: Some great 70's and 80's tracks Disadvantages: May just be for disco (and similar style) fans
Disneys "Kronks new groove" I decided there was nothing else for em to do then search out the bands albums to find one with the track included. It didn't take much of a search on Ebay for a CD with a good selection of songs on and I'm glad that I chose this one now, I had to bid for it which I usually avoid in favour of "buy it now" items, but it's proved worth it.
The album kicks off with "lets groove" which is perhaps the best way for any disco/r&b album, it's funky beat and uplifting feel prepare you for the rest of the album, making you eager to hear more from the group. "Boogie Wonderland" comes next and is perhaps the groups best loved track, even little Elsa loves this track and declares "like that one!" every time it comes on, I imagine everyone's heard this song at some point in there life, it's 70's Disco at it's best full of sing ...

Album Notes
Despite the undeniable influence of Kraftwerk on early hip-hop and electro, and the irresistible grooves Can could set up when they wanted to, most people wouldn't connect the words "funk" and "Germany" right away. This compilation attempts to change that perception with 76 minutes of dancefloor-filling tracks by artists familiar and forgotten. The most famous name here is Boney M., the Euro-disco phenomenon who achieved one-hit wonder status in the U.S.; other acts like Poets of Rhythm and the Whitefield Brothers may be familiar to serious crate-diggers and hip-hop DJs. Overall, this is neither a snickering collection of clumsy novelties nor an essential trove of hidden funk treasures. It's worth a funk fan's time, and will provide some surprises for a professional club DJ to throw at his or her audience, though.
