World at War Great Game Of The Year!!

Advantages: * Gritty, exciting story * Same excellent multiplayer system
Disadvantages: * Familiar setting * Familiar game mechanics

Call of Duty: World at War has arrived just over one year from its earlier game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as released, Modern Warfare met with outstanding critical playing and World at War is likey to receive similar attention because it is very similar, in one sence this is a good thing, World at War reserves a lot of element that made Modern Warfare great, to weapons, mature fast pase action and deep engaging multiplayer system. In another sense this feel on simulatity works against World of War, though the new WWII error campaign is emotional and exiting, there's no getting away from the fact this is formilure territory for anyone who's played first person shooters before, another of a few noble weapons, the flame thrower, and the bayenette. Most of the other weapons (been there done that) feel, while World at War is refined ...

A String of Pseudo Pearls

Advantages: Excellent backing tracks, competent vocals, a couple of strong pop hits
Disadvantages: Not much in the way of soul, some dull tracks, all rather dated now

mind that in 1972 "The Black & White Minstrel Show" was still one of the top rated TV shows, which tells you something about the era. The Pearls were signed to the Bell label ? which had some hugely popular acts on their roster including the Bay City Rollers, Barry Blue, David Cassidy and Gary Glitter. The UK arm of the label focused mainly on commercial pop and the Pearls fitted into this perfectly. Interestingly the US arm tended to focus more on soul music. A String of Pearls Going back to my dad?s old Sanyo radio cassette recorder there was a song which was oft played by myself back in 1974 called ?Guilty?. Performed by the Pearls I loved it and have vague recollections of a Top of the Pops performance which incorporated judges? wigs. I have hunted high and low for this clip on the internet and sadly can only conclude it was ...

Forgotten Voices of The Great War

Advantages: Very emotional and truthful book - with accounts, extra context and pictures
Disadvantages: Can get very emotipanl and rather painful to read at times - the truth can hurt

and women who were there. I was given this book as a Christmas present last year and at first it did not look as appealing as a traditional textbook, but after beginning to read it i was instantly attached to it and found myself enthralled in the true stories and facts about what was meant to be"the war to end all wars". When reading this book you feel these people come back to life and feel as if you are actually here and experiencing this dreadful time. The book is split into several different sections and follows in chronological order through the years of 1914 to 1918. It includes extracts and "voices" from hundreds of different people involved in the war, be it men or women of all ages. There is also some context around the accounts which indicates what particular part of the war they are to do with and makes them much more ...
