John Barry has to be the worlds finest tunesmith when it comes to movie scoring. The guy has been writing great melodies since the early sixties - and won several oscars on the way. He won one for this moving score in which he gives the various characters of the film, including the wolf (Two Socks) befriended by Dunbar, their own theme. Dunbar himself has the incredibly moving title theme, a simple, haunting melody played with layered strings and cellos. Theres a tremendous action piece for the buffalo hunt and exquisite pieces for the romantic interest and two socks. Another stunner from Barry.
