Daniel Powter has been extensively advertised on TV since the release of the fantastic 'Bad Day'. Powter's voice is both melodic and different to what is out at the moment. The CD has 10 tracks on it: the track list is as follows
1. Song 6 2. Free Loop 3. Bad Day 4. suspect 5. Lie to me 6. Jimmy gets high 7. Styrofoam 8. Hollywood 9. Lost on the Loop 10. Give me life
As with a lot of album's, not every song is great - I would say 4 out of ten tracks are good, the rest are so so. The best track on the CD is Bad Day: this song really suits his voice, his piano thumping style is a particular favourite of mine. Apart from Bad day, I would also say that Song 6 is a very good track as well as Lie to me, Jimmy gets high and Give me life. Apart from those four, I would have to say the rest are a little weak. Though I would say that the majority of album's have this flaw - this is why I do not buy many.
Powter has been compared to James Blunt: I am not sure about the comparison as I haven't heard much of Bluntt's work, but from what I've heard, Powter's songwriting and melodic tunes beat Blunt quite resoundly.
All in all a good debut.
The album is produced by Mitchell Froom (Elvis Costello, Crowded House) and Powter's long-term collaborator Jeff Dawson.
Available from most highstreet outlets such as Woolworths, WH Smiths and HMV. I purchased mine from Asda for £9.87. it is also available from Amazon for £8.99
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
This is a good review but maybe add a bit more information?
In my opinion it's okay as it is, maybe a bit short, but to get higher ratings you need to pack your reviews with information ;)
