...Finally - after some anticipation built up by not only a Rush in Rio Live album, the R30 Anniversary Tour and the release of a triple classic DVD set - the new album arrived earlier in the year. Many may have been thinking we'd hear no more from this legendary trio - but they're back, and in a similar vein to the previous album, Vapor Trails, this is a mature and thoughtful record - more AOR than Prog. For those who have never heard of Rush - get Moving Pictures (1981) - you'll be hooked. The band has stuck to the same line up since their second album (original drummer left in 1974), and released over 20 successive platinum albums. (Only Kiss have more). Advantages: At last a band with talent who can produce

...of the hugely popular single 'Yellow'. Since then, the band have never looked back with hit after hit, success after success, award after award. It seems that despite the current situation, real talent can still succeed and can still be recognised. In fact Coldplay have succeeded where nearly all before them have failed by becoming a massive hit in the States, quite some achievement. So after their award winning first album, sell out tour, U.S recognition and Grammy/Brit awards Coldplay had a lot to live up to with their second album offering 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head', how does it fare..... Coldplay begin with 'Politik' a song which shows a willingness to express frustrations with worldly failings, namely the unfairness of trade agreements which make the rich richer and the poor poorer. ...A Rush Of Blood To The Head is a the sophomore album from British band Coldplay, its a remarkable album and unusually for an artist this second album eclipsed the first in its popularity, going platinum a total of 8 times. Its a brilliant album so lets dive right in. In My Place Beginning with thumping drums before melodic guitar riff and soft strings and organ. Chris whines and pleads (the best way of describing his vocal style) over the organ and industrial sounding drums for the verses before the twangly guitar and strings reunite with us for the explosive chorus. The songs sounds like its about past mistakes a guy has made and regretting them. Its a lovely song.
