Hugo Boss hit the fashion market a good few years ago now, famed for expensive suits and contemporary gentlemans fashion. It's not just clothes though, over the years Hugo has released occasional scent, beginning with "Boss No. 1" back in 1985. There must have been something of an "aftershave boom" in the late 1990s and through into the new millenium as there was a constant stream of new scents being released by most of the big fashion houses.
So it was that, in 1999, Hugo Boss released "DarkBlue" onto an unsuspecting world.
Following on from the wildly successful "Hugo", DarkBlue had a lot to live up to. Hugo, alongside Eternity for Men, had become something of a staple for men aged around 20. Deeper shade of blue is a different style to what steps are used to , however it is a good song!
On the cd , there are no b sides just a couple of remixes of deeper shade of blue which seem to go on and on and repeat themselves.
As always the steps dance routine to deeper shade of blue is included.
The video is also on the cd , but is very difficult to find which is a shame!
Deeper shade of blue is one of them songs where you can get up and dance to!
This song is one of them songs that people of all ages enjoy listening to.
If it was just the song I was reviewing I'd give it 10/10 but because i'm also reviewing the cd features i'm going to give it an 8/10 ...
Advantages: Atmospheric, excellent and clever storyline, beautiful animation, highly original and brave concept for an anime Disadvantages: The English-dubbed version is rather ropey, characters don't match up to the quality of the plot, too violent for some?
If the only animated film you ever witnessed was something along the lines of The Lion King, you could be forgiven for type-casting the genre as 'something for the kids'. Want to remain in blissful ignorance? Then don't watch Perfect Blue - it will shatter all those fond childhood memories you may have of that big-eared mouse and the angry duck in his sailor suit. For many, it will deliver a sound reality check as to the state anime these days.
The primary reason for my purchasing of Perfect Blue once again involved me falling for a devilishly good trailer. Its surreal depiction of environments and characters was backed up by some thoroughly unnerving music and, very unusually for an anime, an alluring horror-based narrative. But as I learnt to my cost with Smilla's Sense Of Snow, good trailers don't always make for good films ...
