I wrote this review yonks ago thought I would find it out as last night we watched a tv prog about Pionk floyd Dark side of moon and it brought nback all those magic adolescent moments for me , This record is certanly magic to listen too we have it on cd now.
Saturday Morning I was dusting and came across these large round black discs that have a groove running around the it and a hole in the middle. It was encased in a matt black cardboard sleeve , with a white line of light entering it from one edge entering a triangle in the centre front changing to a rainbow of colours going from the other side of the triangle you’ve got it, it was a record I have stacks do not listen too them that often these days use c d’s .I came across this one that I have not listened since I don’t know when so I have put it on and am listening now
Dark side of the Moon by Pink Floyd
Starts by a heart beat thumping and people chattering and laughing then the music starts it is a dark
despairing Cd mournful yet beautiful tuneful.
Track 1 “ Breathe” A heart beat beating rapidly chattering and laughing a seagull screaming then I hear drumbeats and cymblls “Breathe, breathe in the air Don’t be afraid to care, Leave but don’t leave me”
Music moves to a beat wavering and flittering around
Time the next track, wandering and soaring around racing clock ticking alarm bells ringing clocks chiming, time hurrying away.(doesnt it just no time for anything it doesnt seem that long since I first heard this)
“Tired of lying around in the sunshine staying at home to watch the rain You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today” lazily languidly sung
“Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time Plans that either come to nought or half a page of scribbled lines”
Time passes (they are so right young time seems like it will last for ever but as you get older it races by) this song moves back into “Breathe again “ slower
“The tolling of the iron bell Calls the faithful to their knees To hear the softly spoken magic spells”
A little wailing and whispering to keyboard sounds then more time ticking away into ohhhhhh time to turn the record over.
Cash registers ringing, “MONEY” “Money it’s a hit Don’t give me that do goody good bullshit”
Fast moving music making me tap and type quick some saxophone playing in this track
“Money so they say is the root of all evil today”
We had no money in those days a little more now. We felt we didn’t need money we would live on love and music.
Track 4 Us and them
“Us, us, us, us and them , and after all we are only ordinary men”
The words echo, the music haunts, thought full tune slightly sad .
“ Haven’t you heard it’s a battle of words The post best bearer cried”
“Down, down, down”
Music going lower this is a song about the pointlessness of war.
“ For the price of tea and a slice the old man died”
Music trills along a few deeper sounds
Then “Brain Damage”
“The lunatic is on the grass Remembering games and daisy chains”
Music rising
“The lunatic is in my head You raise the blade you make the change You’ll rearrange me till I am sane”
A little lunatic laughter
Ohhh that was real I felt just like that when I was suffering from brain damage in 1978, after a car crash.
“There’s someone in my head but it’s not me I will see you on the dark side of the moon”
Moves smoothly into Eclipse “Everything under the sun is in tune But the sun is eclipsed by the moon”
ohhh that was nice light and airy tuneful , sorry not very good at describing music, its knowing which words to use for which sounds
Dark side of the moon recorded and released 1973 I was 18/19. Still a hippy child in my long skirts deeply in love.

Funnily enough, I just found my first copy on vinyl, in a box in the loft. it's over thirty years old but I don't know if it plays as I don't have a turntable anymore. Great nostalgia. there's a CD version in my car right now.
This album must be one of the all time classics.
