Advantages: If your looking for evil music, you've definately found it here! Disadvantages: It may be too brutal for some people as it is extreme metal.
...), and Nocturno Culto (lead guitar, vocals) churn out many fast, slow and heavy riffs for the duration of the album.
If you are reading this after my opinion on Emperor’s “Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk”, I shall warn you that Darkthrone and Emperor have two very different styles of Black Metal. “A Blaze in the Northern Sky” is a very dark and sinister album. It comprises of much heavy and brutal guitar work, combined with inventive and interesting drumming. Nocturno Culto’s vocals are a very powerful asset to Darkthrone, as they constantly fit the mood of all the songs perfectly.
I would seriously recommend “A Blaze in the Northern Sky” to anyone who is interested in getting into the Underground Black Metal scene. I will warn you though, it is a very grim, brutal, evil and sinister album. A complete masterpiece, and in Darkthrone’s own words...

Advantages: Punk! The best BF album. Disadvantages: If only Henry was still this good!
...BlackFlag.. one of the most influential American punk bands of the 80's released their debut with Henry Rollins in 1981. It would become a classic album, with many great tunes such as the angry 'Rise Above', and the party tune 'TV Party'!
Rise Above 2:25
This track, for me has to be one of my favourites of the album. A song with such aggression, and Henry's short snappy vocal lines at the beginning can't help but get me chanting along! And such a simple chorus. A total energy packed song!
Spray Paint 0:33
The shortest track on the album, racking in at only 33 seconds long. I don't think there's actually a part of this song where Henry rests for a breather! Love shouting out 'spray paint the walls!' too!
Six Pack 2:20
Probably one of BlackFlag's more known songs, this opens up with such a sweet bass line. Gregg...

Advantages: good production and sound, catchy songs Disadvantages: different from the older albums
...This release was something totally unexpected (except the fact that the full-length album was preceded by a EP "Too Old Too Cold" which gave people a decent surprise) and came like rain from clear sky.
With this release Darkthrone have evolved from good old norwegian black metal to motörheadesque and quite heavily punk influenced thrash metal band and I absolutely adore it. Actually the change is rather small, it could be considered big only because Darkthrone was for quite a long time a black metal band, but considering that Darkthrone started as a death metal band (their first album is basically a death metal release) turning into black metal after their first release "Soulside Journey". So it's not that big surprise.
Compared to their previous full-length "Sardonic Wrath" this release is much more listener...
