...The Birth of a Nation is a black and white silent film from 1915. It?s not a film I had heard of before, and the reason I watched it was because it was on the film list for a course I am taking at university.
The film is based on a novel by Thomas Dixon called ?The Clansmen?. I had read up a little bit about the film before I started watching it so I wasn?t as surprised as I might have been about the content. The film was (and still is) controversial for promoting white supremacy, and I thought most of it was quite racist!
The film was regarded as a very important film in its day as it used many new filming techniques which hadn?t been seen before. This is one of the main reasons that it was chosen as part of my course. I found the film interesting as I had never seen anything like it before, although I understand why it is seen as...

Advantages: comical elements Disadvantages: nothing extraordinary
...While there is nothing impressive or extraordinarily romantic in The Wedding Date, it is a movie which I would recommend for some light entertainment and just the right dash of romance. Starring Debra Mesisng and Dermot Mulroney, the plot is about a single woman who is invited to her parent's home for the wedding of her little sister. However, catastrophe arises when Kat (Mesisng) realizes that her ex fiancé would be attending the wedding too. Not wanting to lose face in front of him, Kat does the one thing possible: She hires Nick (Dermot Mulroney), a male escort to accompany her to the wedding and pose as her boyfriend. The thing is, Nick is even more attractive than she anticipated...

Advantages: Excellent Jazz Album. Disadvantages: None!
...a little bit of everything included and each song holds also, some fantastic memories for me, about my Grandparents, when I was growing up. They both used to dance around a lot to this CD and those memories of this music are happy ones to me that make me smile to myself when I think about this. I love listening to this album a lot and not because I am a huge jazz fan or anything, but because my Grandparents and all these songs, really mean a lot to me.
This Birth of cool CD was re-mastered in 1998, as it originally was on a LP and sounded a bit crackly. Well this newer version is not perfect either, but it sure is a lot better sound quality than before. A further remake of this album called ?The complete Birth Of Cool is now also available with lots more added tracks by Miles Davis and it sounds great.
