Advantages: Relaxing story telling music with a bit of heart Disadvantages: Too boring
...OK album, with a nice mix of different artist most of which i have never hear of before. As you can probably tell I'm not usually into this kind of music but being someone always looking to expand my musical horizons, I thought i would give it a go but was not too impressed.
Most of the songs featured were not too impressive, many of which sounded very boring and generic for the genre.
Track 15, Green Fields of France - Furey & Davey Arthur was probably one of the most impressive tracks on the album; this song featured delicately sung lyrics and an impressive story which i think is based on world war 2. Some of the other tracks were almost up to this standard but were too boring and didn't catch my attention....

Advantages: Seattle rock at it's very finest Disadvantages: Not enough exposure in the UK
...----
A percussion run track which screams out about police brutality towards american blacks. "Police stopped a brother again" is the scream from Eddie that suggests that we may have found another issue he is not altogether pleased with.
----Blood----
A very punky track this one. With a hard riff, and Eddie screaming his lungs out.Short, but oh so sweet.
----Rearviewmirror----
A fantastic riff runs throughout this track. This really is a song to drive along to. Really catchy chorus will have you singing/humming along for days. It is a song about reflecting on the bad things that have happened to you.
----Rats----
Comparing humans to rats, and coming out with the conclusion that rats are a lot better behaved, what a concept. This slightly bluesy feeling track is definately a favourite, with a chorus you'll just love.

Advantages: The Reinvention of the Frontman: Eddie Argos Disadvantages: Not Enough Brut!
...Now when it comes to Rock N Roll, Art Brut's debut is cranked up to 11, a 30something minute blast of wit and intelligence, screeching and howling through tracks like the title track 'Bang Bang Rock N Roll', the hilarious 'Formed A Band' (Featuring the lyric 'I want to write the song that makes Israel and Palestine get along '), and the heart-wrenching 'Emily Kane', an ode to frontman Eddie Argos' childhood sweetheart.
Eddie's vocals come through half spoken half sung, and as he states 'It's not irony, It's not rock n roll' but it sure works. With moments of punk rock stylings such as in '18,000 Lira' and 'Fight!', with the guitars racing and the drums pounding hard, like a headache on a rainy day.
The band, have style, and they definately have a future. Whereas this may not be in some people's taste, it is a gem that should...
