released in 1995 this shows while Van Morrisson may no longer be the cutting edge musically he's still able to produce strong albums with crafted lyrics and polished performances and production. Reading the track listing - Russian Roulette, raincheck, No religion, underlying depression, i'll never be free melanholia you'd be forgiven that you were about to listen to a very depressing album but in fact the jazzy playing style ,which sometimes crosses into pure late night blues, ensures that this is an uplifting experience with the blues seen off. The 2 stand out tracks are perfect fit an uptempo number and you dont know me - a ballard sung with his daughter both of which would belong in a best of collection.
