Advantages: Will be a classic in years to come. Disadvantages: Each series too short.
Not to be confused with the 1988 film of the same name,DeadRingers, which has just finished it`s 3rd series on Radio 4,comes from a long, long line of highly successful BBC Radio Comedy shows .
If you have missed the current series, tough! It finished last week but mark in your diary 19 April 2002 as being the start of the fourth run - you will not be disappointed. Many of us do not listen to Radio 4 and are thus deprived of the wealth of enjoyment to be gained from the continuous crop of marvellous comedy that it has.
If you don`t know,DeadRingers is a sketch show that uses a bunch of immensely talented impressionists (nothing whatsoever to do with Monet!).They poke fun at politicians, celebritiesand TV personalities and even Radio 4 itself by satirising the weeks news using some uncannily accurate mimicry and a razor sharp
witty ...

Advantages: Each song is a great one. Disadvantages: Not enough tracks?
, with another joining in soon after. The ever familiar backing-vocalists join Meat Loaf for this interesting song. Nothing spectacular, but certainly good. - 7/10
5 - Read 'Em and Weep - Another piano on another slow song which is another memorable ballad. Great vocals are the main point to focus on, while the odd guitar and piano bring the song to a sense of completion. - 8/10
6 - Nocturnal Pleasure - Not sure why I'm reviewing this track. It's just a talking track that lasts for a little over one minute. Quite strange.
7 - DeadRinger for Love - Probably the most famous track from this album, a highly energetic song that sounds very Meat Loaf-ish. Great guitars, and good piano work are present, but the best part of the song is the singing between Meat Loaf and Cher, whose voices seem to merge together in a beautiful way. Kudos to ...
Advantages: Some very skillful soundalikes Disadvantages: A lot of rather obvious humour
I must be missing something! I've always thought of myself as having an outsize sense of humour - I grew up with The Goons and Hancock, moved on to Alf Garnett, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, The Young Ones, Blackadder and so on to Alexei Sayle, Roy Mallard, Alan Partidge, Paul Merton...
As a teacher I was noted for my sense of the ridiculous - kids actually enjoyed my Assemblies!
So when I say I just don't find DeadRingers that funny, I hope you believe that it isn't because I've had my humour-buds surgically removed or have suddenly come over all morose. I just find much of the humour rather obvious and unsubtle.
There are funny touches - the spoof phone calls are the main reason I keep listening to the programme and the Charlotte Green voice-alikes are amusing; while their George Dubya Bush impersonations strike just ...
