This album, his 5th solo effort, offers no genre challenging, no wild ideas, simply beautiful music. Parental Guidance? No, this album, whilst not particularly happy, does not contain any adult themes or vulgar language. About the Artist: Written under just the name of "John Frusciante" (pronounced "Froo-Shee-an-Tay"), the arrangement is actually as follows: Josh Klinghoffer: Drums, bass, keyboards, guitar on Helical and The Will to Death John Frusciante: Vocals, guitar, piano, synthesiser, bass on Far Away, Unchanging and the Will to Death To the best of my knowledge, Josh Klinghoffer is in the band "The Bicycle Thief" where he also plays several instruments, but commonly drums. Advantages: good mix of 'moods', good length, balance of experimentation and classic rock
Disadvantages: tracks with numbers in are a little disturbing, and the cover doesn't say who the artist is

...This was the first John Frusciante album that I bought, but after hearing it I was prompted to buy all 9 other albums, it really was that good. It is totally impossible to compareit with any other artist, so I won't try. 'Carvel' is the best track, but other greats include 'omission', 'Ricky', 'Wednesday's song', 'This cold', 'song to sing when i'm lonely', and 'Water'. The not so good tracks are the ones with numbers in, as they're pretty much just wierd noises. Great guitars and vocals, Josh Klinghoffer's vocals on 'omission' are beautiful. Also, the official John Frusciante website has all these tracks (except for those with numbers in) performed live and acousitcally if you're interested, which you should be.... Read review

...true to his roots and it still maintains that critical raw edge. John and Twiggy both shine throughout (Twiggy has since departed) and even Manson himself played guitar on certain tracks. Zim Zum does his stuff as usual with Ginger excellent and innovative throughout all of the tracks. Another fascinating element of the Marilyn Manson cult / circus / roadshow is that he is really in control of his image and very similar to Bowie, adapts not only the image but his whole lifestyle to the character he is in the album i.e. he was Omega during Mechanical Animals and changed to Adam with this epoch. He's changed again in advance of The Golden Age of The Grotesque which is his next album. As with all his records, the artwork and imagery of the whole product is both intelligent and alluring and that's all backed up by regular communication... Read review
