on two cds, this should be released on dvd are you listening emi, this shows another reason why duran were so big, there videos were watched and loved by millions and were certainly groundbreaking and original. i have never seen a bad duran video, and all the best early vids are included here, also some of the later vids up to serious, and violence of summer, wow man, check out those chicks. Duran were slated for making big expensive vids, but to there credit, these videos still enjoy play on vh1 and sometimes mtv, a lot of the harder to see vids are also here such as the aforementioned serious, the only qulam i had is that my bloody disc jumped on violence of summer and it was the last copy anyone had. bummer
Advantages: Great uplifting album Disadvantages: bit behind times
In their decadent heyday, the pretty boys of DuranDuran were the crown princes of a fledgling MTV, but drugs, hubris and a few dodgy albums reduced this supergroup to has-beens. Now, twenty-one years since the original Fab Five's last studio album together, the band's classic lineup has returned. As you acn see this album offers great value for money and encapsulates the finest DuranDuran songs they ever did.
I have heard that DuranDuran are still going 20 years on from thier rise to fame, if so has anyone seen them????
This album is a definate must for anyone that wants to retract thier minds back to that sad, but sometimes mad decade!! ...
Being honest I was horrified when I first played the latest effort from my favourite band. At times it sounds so different from Hot Fuss and Sams Town , but that wasn't the problem. It was the instruments and production they had chosen. "Is that the saxophone from some long forgotten Sade track I can hear ? Yes it is" ... "Those drums sound like they came from Club Tropicana by Wham!" ... in other words , where Hot Fuss took it's influences from the best of 80's pop ( New Order / early DuranDuran ), they are using some sounds here that remind you of the worst from that decade. The production by Stuart Price ( Madonna - Confessions On a Dancefloor ) is very clever in places but too lightweight overall.
Still , I persevered as I love the band so much and there were a clutch of songs I loved right away. 'Human' is gorgeous. The best ...
