As with so many albums ‘Dedicated’ begins with a short intro, which has a wonderful piano and guitar arrangement, accompanied by Lemar’s voice, which reaches an astonishingly high range, before a spoken dedication is heard.
The first track ‘Dance with U’ was also Lemar’s first single ... Read review

Advantages: Wonderful soulful voice Disadvantages: Weak lyrics in places
Some months ago I was watching a music channel on the television, when I was completely mesmerised by the voice of a young man singing his debut single release in the United Kingdom. That song was called ‘Dance with U’ and the artist’s name was Lemar. It transpired that Lemar Obkiu was a contestant on BBC1’s programme ‘Fame Academy’, televised to rival ITV’s ‘Pop Idol’ and was defeated in the final by David Sneddon.
With the release of his second ... ...Lemar’s debut album, with no hesitation when it arrived in the music shops in November of last year. The album can be purchased from www.play.com for £9.99 or from Amazon for a slightly cheaper £8.99.

Advantages: Lemar has a fantastic voice Disadvantages: More tracks please!
...for a list, Lemar's album Dedicated was top, that was until I found out he was playing at the Birmingham NIA two months after my birthday, so when my mom brought me both I was estatic, not only was I going to be breathing the same air as Lemar, I had a whole night of listning to his silky voice too!!
The first two singles set the tone for the album and I wasn't in anyway disapointed. The intro, called.... wait for it.... "Dedicated" is a little ... ...makes you go "Ahhh" as the first line is "I dedicate it to you Mama", his mom died shortly after Fame Academy and I'm sure she'd be more than proud of her son. The next track is "Dance (With U)" which I've already talked about so next onto "Fresh" this song see's Lemar blowing his own trumpet a little, "I'm so cool, I'm so fly, I'm so fresh" but when you look so good, you can be forgiven. Again this is another upbeat track that see's Lemar's tone ...

Advantages: Excellent Debut, Easy Listening Disadvantages: Couple of dud slushies.
Lemar had always been my favourite in Fame Acadamy and i was completly shocked when he was voted off the show. To me, he was the only one there with a natural talent. And this album proves my point!
When his first song was released, Dance (with u) I instantly liked it. Nice funky r&b number, but i was also glad he had stuck at what he was good at, ie soul/r&b and had not gone out on a commercial limb and recoreded tracks not suited to him and his ... ...album release, i bought it straight away, and i was not disappointed. Its a 15 track cd and the majority of the tracks have been written by Lemar himself, which again is a testiment to his talent.
Ive listed all the tracks below and have also marked them out of 10...ill try to describe them as best as i can!

Very good R 'n' B album. It starts a bit cheesy. If you are a serious fan of this kind of music and comparing to American artists, you may feel why have I bought this.? But it warms up. A few soft ballads. Personal favourite is Lullaby. Basic bars, but sweet lyrics. I also like last track , All I Ever Do.
I do feel that this artist is one of the few from the UK, that has the ability to make it big in the American market. Wads of cash to be made.

Advantages: Brilliant debut album, very promising R & B star Disadvantages: A few more slushy ones than I expected
This is an excellent debut album from one of the contestants on the first Fame Academy. Two of the tracks on this album have already been released as singles:- 'Dance with you', and '50/50'. These are both quite uptempo, dancey tracks, and are what prompted me to buy the album.
When I listened to the whole album, it wasn't quite what I expected, but is very good all the same. Firstly, the man can sing. He has unquestionable vocal abilty, which is ... ...the album. There are as many ballads on the album as there are chirpy tracks, but the lyrics are inspired, and moving. 'Intro' is where we first get a taste of his vocal range. 'What about Love' is a classic acoustic piano performance, and 'Lullaby' is a lovely smooth track which blends gospel and soul influences. 'Good Woman' is probably one of my favourites, the lyrics seem to be giving a pre-warning to a mystery man who is dating a friend of Lemars ...
