DownMistreatedSmoke On The WaterYou Fool No OneSpace Truckin'Deep Purple were the biggest selling album act in America when they embarked on a 28 day tour promoting their new album Burn. The undoubted climax of this tour was headlining the California Jam Festival at Ontario Speedway in California, in front of 200,000 people. Their explosive set is presented here on DVD for the first time. The set-list includes tracks from Burn, as well as classics like Space Truckin' and Smoke On The Water. As the show came to a close, Blackmore - angered by troubles back-stage - took his revenge on one of the TV cameras, before exploding his amps and destroying several guitars. It made for a visually astonishing climax to the set, and almost got the band banned from playing live in America again.

THE TRACKS
1. BURN (7:32)
This is absolutely a good starting track. Ian Paice strikes the drums nicely for the intro of this song. The whole track is awesome from start to finish. This track has a pure metallic touch.
I like the rendition of all the instruments specially the solo rendition of guitar and the keyboard. in this track and David Coverdale's great effort on vocals.
2. MISTREATED (11:32)
This track is a very catchy one. Richie grabs the first shine of the limelight with his awesome guitar solo intro which is great. David shows off his ...
Advantages: Great mixture of songs Disadvantages: burn should have been live
When searching through the rock albums on ciao i was quite surprised to find this cd had only one review. This particular album has been with me since 1980 and gives me very fond memories of my childhood beginnings into music of this genre.
A present from my grandma at the age of 12 and my first vinyl to play on my little record player that later played a major part in the ruin of many albums.Thank god we have come along way since then for i would probably still be replacing the stylus with a bent pin..(we all did it)
I think i heard the song Black Night on radio Luxembourg as a kid and it just sounded so good with its mix of lyrics, drums, bass, keyboards and lead guitar.Deeppurple as a sixties and seventies rock band prided themselves on music that involved the whole band which is rare these days.
Made up of three line ups over ...
Advantages: A characteristically great album from a great band in their prime. Disadvantages: Some of the out-takes really should be taken out!
So the first question - who are DeepPurple? Well this question can be answered in 2 ways, the first is simple, they are a hard rock/heavy metal band that released their first album in 1968 and their most recent album was relesae just last month. The other answer is more complicated due to the fact that over the years there have been so many chops and changes in the band's lin-up that writing a proper history would be a review in itself, suffice to say that the band are in it's 8th incarnation with Mark II having reunited at various times to add to the confusion!
Anyhow, back to DeepPurpleinRock - the original album was released in 1970 by Mark II which in my opinion was the best ever line-up featuring: Ritchie Blackmore (lead guitar), Ian Gillan (vocals, he of the musical scream), Roger Glover (bass), Jon Lord (keyboards ...

Album Notes
Deep Purple: Ian Gillan (vocals); Ritchie Blackmore (guitar); Jon Lord (keyboards); Roger Glover (bass); Ian Paice (drums). Engineers: Martin Birch, Andy Knight, Phillip McDonald. With IN ROCK, Deep Purple added vocalist Ian Gillan into the line-up, a decision that irrevocably changed their fortunes. IN ROCK is one of the genre's definitive albums, combining hard-edged riffs with virtuoso technique, topped by Gillan's full-throated roar. Few singers could survive the instrumental power beneath him, but this he does with room to spare, reacting to and emphasizing his colleagues' musical prowess. Chock-full of material destined to become Deep Purple anthems, later releases were evaluated against this trail-blazing, heavy rock collection.
