This is a more of a compilation CD, but with a difference. Whereas a compliation CD would normally take songs from a number of different albums etc and put them in one place, this CD actually has a number of Delirious songs that have actually been re-worked.
An introduction to the band was actually given in a previous review, but for those of you who missed it then here is another introduction to them. For Ciao purposes, I am not looking back to the last review so any close similarities are just a coincidence.
Delirious started life way back in the early 1990's in Littlehampton on the south coast of England, but were orginially known as the Cutting Edge band. This is because they lead worship at a local Christian youth setting that was held regularly, believe it or not called Cutting Edge. They wrote all their own stuff, which becoming more well known across the country. This then lead to them realising that they needed to change their
image somewhat, so then became known as Delirious which has obviously stuck ever since. They have even made it in to the mainstream charts with a number of their songs, including appearances on a lot of toop shows. Top of the pops; chat shows, etc.
The members of the band is made up as follows:
Martin Smith: lead vocals; guitars. Stu G (aka Stuart Garrad): backing vocals; guitars. Tim Jupp: keyboards. Stew (Stewart) Smith: drums (but of no relation at all to Martin). Jon Thatcher: bass.
They publish through Curious Music UK, but manufacture through Furious Records who also manage the band. Apart from CDs, they also sell DVDs; music books, and clothes to name but a few!
The CD!
It is actually a double CD, as already noted hosts a wide number of well known Delirious Christian songs that have been re-worked by various people. Themselves; Andy Piercy; Jack Jesph Puig, and others.
The outer case is as the picture shows - exactly as it shows! CD 1 holds 13 songs, with 12 over on 2.
The song list is as follows:
CD 1: 1. Did you feel the mountains tremble? Talking about when people become a Christian for the first time. 2. I could sing of your love forever. A love song, enough said! The theme in any song is more or less the same in any setting - and a Christian setting is no different. 3. I've found Jesus. A more personal song, that leads on from track one. 4. I'm not ashamed. Again, following on from 1/3. 5. Deeper. The cry of the heart to go deeper, to find more out about God. 6. Lord you have my heart. Another simple love song. 7. Sanctify. Crying out to God, in order to be made pure. 8. Not forgotten. A new song, talking about that fact that whatever may happen then he will not be forgotten. 9. Shout to the north. A song to encourage people to stand up for themselves, in order to say about what they believe in. 10. History maker. Not wanting to be 'plain jane', but actually wanting to make something of your life. 11. Follow. A song about following God, no matter what. 12. All the way. A love to Jesus, saying that again we will go all the way no matter what. 13. Kiss your feet. A song of admiration, and worship.
CD2: 1. Happy song. One to dance to! Just really saying that it is good to know God, and that he has done all things good. 2. Come like you promise. A songs, asking God to fulfill his promises. 3. Revival town. A song that talks about revival, that is people coming back to know Jesus again. 4. Hands of Kindness. Another love song, this time focussing on God's hands and how they lift us when we are done. 5. Find me in the river. A song that talks about us wanting to get to know God more, and doing anything no matter what the cost or how daft we look in the process. 6. Jesus' blood. A title that explains itself! 7. King of love. Again, another real song of love. 8. Message of the cross. Enough said! That Jesus died and rose again, for our sins. 9. Oh lead me. A song that cries out to God, for him to come and take us back to that first place again. 10. Obsession. A song that cries out to God, in order for him to save us when we feel like rubbish. 11. Thank you for saving me. This song title again just really likes to speak out for itself! 12. What a friend I've found. Talks about the closeness that we have to Jesus, and that this closeness is even closer than our blood ties with our families.
I found this CD in my local Christian bookshop for £16.99, although it can be found on the Internet. Prices may vary from place to place, so take a look about to see where you can get the best deals. Owing to their previous chart success, HMV sell a limmited number of their CDs.
