this was in its time a ground breaking album. it reintroduced (thank god) guitars in to modern music taste and managed to herald the rebirth of brit pop. the album is raw and raucous and has some great vocal performances by liam which are never really matched in the later albums. the power of the album is matchd by tender touches like that of "Married with children" which has a sirt of cute lack of tune, that is to say it is a quirky little number with an endearing quality that one would not immediately align with oasis, but it is a sng like that which gave birth to the latter acoustic guitar based tracks which we all love. this is a good album, but if i just had 10 pounds i would definitely buy the second one.
