After seeing Gorillaz live on TV, I was pleasantly surprised, and went and uncovered their album....

The albums starts with what you expect from the Gorillaz sound. Lots of bass, and the ringing of an alarm in the background, it sounds like something out of a horror film, just at the good part...

'Last living souls' starts slowly, but builds up quickly. This wasn't the best track for me, I found it slightly repetitive, and the music overpowered the lyrics. I also found the music slightly annoying.

'Kids with guns' seems like a strange name for a song, and I was quite surprised at the inoffensive sound of this track.

'O Green world' almost had me reaching for the forward button with the intro. Annoying and repetitive, I felt my ears were about to bleed.... As the track progressed, it didn't get any better in my opinion, so I decided to fast forward the end for the sake of my ears...

'Dirty Harry' is definitely one of the highlights of the album. Funky music, with the kids singing the catchy chorus made this track stand out for me. Even though this is more kids with guns, and I am slightly worried about the message of this album, this is an enjoyable track all the same.

'Feel Good Inc' was the 1st single from this album. Another happy, funky track, with very poignant lyrics. The combination of the rap and Damon Albarn works, and this is another highlight of the album for me.

El Manana for me was quite a revelation. Compared to many of their singles, this ballad was a surprise. Very easy listening and chilled out, it's a perfect anecdote to most of the quick paced rap tracks on the album.

'Every planet we reach is dead' has a country feel to it. Since I'm not a big fan of country music, this track did nothing for me.

'November' is back to more what I would have considered to be a Gorillaz sound. A slowed down rap, with Damon singing the chorus. This feels like more familiar territory after the experimentation of the last few tracks.

'All alone' has a synth start, and this is repeated through the track. However, the music is too strong on this track, and drowns out everything else. This seems to be another filler track, in my opinion.

'White Light' sees another experimentation of musical styles, with a rocky, dancy beat to it. Although a very short track, and next to no lyrics, this track does stand out amongst the blandness of some of the recent tracks.

'Dare' is another single release. When I first heard this, I thought it was the scissor sisters! This takes me back on familiar ground, singalong choruses, with raps and a good beat to this track.

Even just the name of the next track 'Fire coming out of a monkey's head' made me giggle! This sounds almost like a nature programme on TV, with Damon Albarn interrupting halfway through with his singing.

'Don't get lost in heaven' starts slowly with a chorus that has a very Blur sound to it. Overall though, this track is more of an album filler and is pretty bland to me.

'Demon days' is the last and title track. This has a slow start and I quite a weak track, considering it's a title track. The addition is what sounds like a gospel choir does seem strange, but with all the sounds and musical styles experimented with on this album, it shouldn't be a surprise.

This is a strange album, there's an eclectic mix of styles within this album. Some work, some don't, but there's something for everyone on this album, and if you like the singles, it's worth a listen.
