Gorillaz - Demon Days
Lets start off by saying what an album this is, it is spectacular and a total different sound to any other album you will hear. No one is totally sure of the people who write and sing these songs as it is all kept quite quiet. There is a group of people who composes sings and writes but only some names of the band itself is known.
Well lets start off with a bit of information about the band that we do know. The four main members of the band are known only as cartoon people ; bass player Murdoc, singer 2D, drummer Russel Hobbs and the guitarist Noodle. Not many people know the real identities of these band members and why do they not want people to know? Demon days is an amazing album that did not just take over the music industry for its music but the use of cartoon graphics and videos. This gave the world something they have never seen before and made the music even more exciting than it already was.
My opinion on each of the songs.
Intro - even though this is a short beginning to the album it is a fabulous mixture of tunes and sounds that gets you really excited. I think this really gets you imagining for what is about to come. The sounds used in this make you feel as though it is somewhere dark and scary and a bit like you are left alone in a dark world.
Last living souls - This song has got a really funky beat to it. I think this is an excellent song with a catchy tune. Through the songs it goes through a variety of funky and groovy sounds. And in the middle it comes to a part which seems more serious than the rest of the song, like the feeling that the singer means what he is singing. Great use of echo in a few words near the end of the song. Overall I love this song.
Kids
with Guns - Another song with a really funky beat. You really get into this song as it makes you want to join in. The words are quite weird but that is what makes Gorillaz so great. The voice of singer 2D in the song really makes this the song it is. Without him singing it it would not sound the same. Another fantastic song with great use of sounds and lyrics. One of my favourites of the album.
O Green World - Starts of with a great bass/electric guitar intro really gives a great sound. Weird noise at start of song as well can't tell what it is. Really electrified kind of voice used in this song for the lead singer. Hard to understand what the singer is saying though and does not sound as good as some of the other songs. The music is great but lyrics let this song down unfortunately.
Dirty Harry - Another amazing sounded song, at first I did not like this song but it grows on you. It has a very catchy chorus and you will at some point get caught singing it somewhere. The chorus uses children to give the song a great sound. This song is basically more of an instrumental song. Halfway through a rapper comes in, which I think spoils it. Amazing instrumental quality but rapper lets this song down.
Feel Good Inc - This is a love at first sight song. I heard this song and instantly fell in love. This was the song that made me buy this album and I am glad I did. This song has a strange use of lyrics and a great chorus. The rapping in this song is quality and what is expected of a band of this status. The laughing in the song also makes it a big hit. You have to hear it to believe it. This is a number one song and I think a must have or must hear. Use of sound in this song is simpler but if it was any different it would not be the same.
El Manana - Excellent instrument play through the song. I don't really rate this song as I think it is dreary and it is another song that has weird and stupid lyrics really. The song myself I find boring. But if you are a lover of instrumental play you will still love this song like most of the gorillaz music.
Every Planet we Reach is Dead - Guitar intro is fabulous a great start to a song. Amazing guitar solo. It sounds a bit like a Japanese kind of tune. In the middle the song just goes into guitar play really and it makes you kind of lose interest and skip to the next track. The lyrics are really good and actually make sense unlike some of the other songs. Maybe not a catchy tune but nevertheless another excellent song.
November Has come - Starts off with a slow kind of rap, pretty good. Then back to lead singer 2D, with a great lyrical song, I think anyway. Not their greatest song especially as they don't use much of their instrument play which makes most of their songs unbeatable. Most of this song is rap and good rap as well but the main verses of 2D are the best.
All Alone - Got to be their quickest and best rap song. Lyrics are good and so is the music. This is a bit more like a club anthem song. Near the end a woman is singing and the song I think loses it then but comes back into it. Also at the end there is some funny lyrics and excellent guitar play.
White Light - Through this song I think it sounds like a drunk man is singing it and it has music that sounds like the whole band is drunk. But this for a strange reason gives a great effect to the song. And all he sings through it is basically white light and some other words that he mumbles but you cant really hear.
Dare - I think this is a clever song and I love it. It is a bit like another club anthem as it has a great beat to it. I love the lyrics and the repetition of the lyrics. The 2 different singing voices in this song gives an amazing affect. And the lively beat to it will get you dancing in no time. This is one of my favourites. Totally love this song it is great.
Fire Coming Out of the Monkeys Head - Starts of with someone talking and the words he says are very weird just like the lyrics all the way through. It is all about people from a mountain or something and the people were called happy folk and they were all blind. Very weird really. It is quite a hard song to work out. And it is bit like a story with only a little bit of song. And when he does sing the lyrics are sooooo weird. It is a weird song and hard to explain but has a lot of great sound affects.
Don't Get Lost in Heaven - A really catchy song and totally different to all the other songs as it has a different twist to it. Showing a different side of the Gorillaz. A piano is the main instrument in this song and it works really well. A great tune all the way through and I love the lyrics.
Demon Days - Even though this is the name of the album I think its probably the worst song in the album. Sorry to people who like this song but it does not stand up to the quality of the other songs. But still like all the other songs has great instrumental play all the way through. It also doesn't really get into the proper song to the middle. And when it gets to the middle it is actually pretty good. But I don't see the point in the build up to it.
Well that is all of the songs in the Demon Days album and it is a great collection of songs with different varieties of genres really from anthem to reggae beats. An amazing album overall and would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in different types of music genres.
Finally lets have a quick talk about the videos.
The videos in this album of the songs are absolutely amazing. Each video has a storyline to it. And they are all in cartoons and If you have not seen the Gorillaz cartoon characters I would recommend to you to download a couple of videos of gorillaz. Some are better than others but the quality of the videos is just spectacular. These videos are so good, gorillaz have actually won awards not just for their music but for their videos and cartoons.
So if you are interested in Gorillaz I would seriously recommend this album it is a new generation of music to the world. I loved it and I hope that you will love it to!!

Advantages: Jenny Lewis; the musical guests and production; it's a good record Disadvantages: It's the weakest album she's made so far; Elvis Costello; slight lyrics
