Since the death of original vocalist Dave William's D.P have picked themselves back up and made this new album, however it hasn't got a patch on the debut 'Sinner'. 'Step-Up' - catchy track, but after a while the repetition kills the song. Each song on the album is very hard to differentiate between as many use the same formula (pound a few chords, guitars and shout) over and over. One of the biggest similarities I found was between the track 'Step-Up' (only one I know of to have been released, thank God.) and the song 'Love & War'.
All in all this album is low, trying to move away from D.W's death but taking away a lot of the variety he gave D.P with a mediocre at best singer.
I recommend you borrow this album, if anything. This may interest some of the younger generations, but if ... more

'Step-Up' - catchy track, but after a while the repetition kills the song. Each song on the album is very hard to differentiate between as many use the same formula (pound a few chords, guitars and shout) over and over. The debut 'Sinner' had a blend of slow/fast tempo, high/low pitch and so much variety you're not likely to confuse tracks.

I recommend you borrow this album, if anything. This may interest some of the younger generations, but if they want value for money stick with the debut album.

Drowning Pool's first album with new singer Jason Jones, after the death of original singer Dave Williams.
A lot of the songs on this album sound similar to each other, some people may consider this to be a ... ...album is "Love And War", it is the most mellow of the songs, I like the new singer's voice in this song better than the old singer, as example in 'Bodies'.
With the new singer there is less of the 'shouting' kind of sound in the voice, and more mellow sounding.
I would recommend this album to people who like music like "Ill Nino". ...

Album Notes
Drowning Pool includes: Jason "Gong" Jones (vocals). Drowning Pool: Jason "Gong" Jones (vocals); C.J. Pierce (guitar); Stevie Benton (bass guitar); Mike Luce (drums). Recording information: Groovemaster Recording, Chicago, Illinois (2004); Ocean Studios, Burbank, California (2004). When Drowning Pool lead singer Dave Williams was found dead on the group's tour bus in 2002, fans and critics alike assumed that the remaining members would call it a day. Fortunately, bassist Stevie Benton, drummer Mike Luce, and guitarist C.J. Pierce regrouped with new vocalist Jason "Gong" Jones and delivered this fierce sophomore disc. Jones's vocal style is markedly different than that of his predecessor, but no less effective. In fact, the new singer's deep, Layne Staley-meets-Phil Anselmo shouting is a near-perfect match for the hooky, highly rhythmic riffs that are Drowning Pool's stock-in-trade. On alternative-rock-leaning tracks such as "Step Up" and "Bringing Me Down," Jones proves he can carry a melody with the best of them, often sounding like a tougher Dave Grohl or Bob Mould. A testament to the group's strength in the face of adversity, DESENSITIZED rocks with the intensity of men who have seen the dark side and returned to tell about it.
Album Reviews
Q (p.113) - 3 stars out of 5 - "Jason Jones' voice makes Frank Butcher sound soprano, and the Metallica-esque 'Think' and 'Nothingness' are roaringly effective."
