...The word collaboration is one I do not like hearing when used to describe a piece of rock and roll, when I was a young man it was featuring a guest appearance by so and so, I dislike the word collaboration as it is dirty and soulless. The Desert Sessions is Josh Homme (Queens of The Stone Age) artistic side project which enables him to indulge in "collaborations" with various other artists he is interested in working with. It enables him to explore musical territory outside of the entity the is Queens of The Stone Age. In less pompous and pretentious terms it is basically an opportunity for him to go to Rancho De Luna Studios in the high desert town of Joshua Tree and have some fun with folk he likes or admires. ...I first saw the film of Blues Brothers with my dad who told me that it was worthy of watching... I was very impressed by the film, but more so by the music that stayed in my mind for a long time afterwards, and which persuaded me to buy the soundtrack. Here, many artists like Ray Charles, Aretha Franklyn and James Brown have come together to produce a soundtrack that is featured in this memorable film. The Tracks -------------- Going through the listening experience, I am taken back to moments of the film, and whilst most songs are by the two main players in the film, the snippets of the more famous artists enhance the album and make it a complete listening experience. 1. ...A fantastic CD with lot's of different kinds of rock. The best bands of 2006 and 2007 put in one CD. Artists like Snow Patrol, Razorlight, The Fratellies, The Arctic Monkeys, Automatic, The Ordinary Boys, The Killers, Keane, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, The Kooks and the list goes on. Has two CD's and has 40 tracks, 20 on each CD. Has new up coming artist such as Wolfmother. has many artists winners from the Brits: The Killers who won best national CD and best national band, The Arctic Monkeys won best British CD and best British band. The Fratellis won an award too and many more Brit award winning artists. A fantastic purchase well worth its money. A great buy. I recommend definitely to people anywhere between 8 and 100 if they enjoy that kind of music. It even has some live performing artists such as 'The Arctic Monkeys' on tour... Read review
