I never thought much of Bob Dylan’s music until I heard Desire. The thoughtful lyrics and the calm distinct tones hit home. I realised Dylan was a genius mainly on account of his poetry but also through his musical appreciation.
I had always thought that Dylan was a whinging, unmusical bore. Desire was different. It was lively, ... ...occasion by Emmylou Harris.
Desire was released in 1976 and is considered by many as "Dylan's last great album". I personally believe it is his very best and includes my all-time favourite song, Hurricane:

step four. i am a completist. it got good reviews, and i was trying to be as chronological as possible whilst avoiding the piles of shit that dylan has occaisionally left lying around. it had to happen, i bought the album...
quelle suprise! it's quite good. once you get over the really annoying violin...
"hurricane" is the best start to ... ...day women". it's an atmospheric, intelligent, moving piece of music. and it's got a catchy chorus, gosh this guy gets better with age.
"isis" is a very worthy song to follow such a tumultuos opener. but it's orchestration (i think that's what you have to call it) doesn't mach the classic dylan ambiguities in the lyrics.
"mozambique" is deliberately exotic, trying to draw on flavours that dylan has not touched on in his previous albums. the album ...

What do you mean you don't like Bob Dylan. Obviously, you have never listened to Desire. This is one of the classic albums. Hey, Pink Floyd had to write a tortured double concept album before anyone made a film of their music, likewise The Who. Bob Dylan managed to get a single song from this album into Hollywood: Hurricane. Ok, so the film and the song are about the same guy but what the hell. This is Bard-balladering at its.
