JON BON JOVI
Born in New Jersey in 1962, John Francis Bongiovi has become part of one of the most successful bands of all-time. His band Bon Jovi have sold over 100 million albums over 20 years and can still fill stadiums when they go on tour. I saw them live for my first time at Hyde Park in 2003 and it was incredible. DESTINATION ANYWHERE
Released in the summer of 1997, two years after Bon Jovi's 'These Days' album. Many people believed that Bon Jovi had split up, but they were only taking a break and reunited to record 'Crush' in 2000. They have a boxset out next month containing 50 unreleased tracks and a DVD. Bon Jovi have nearly finished recording a new album to be released early next year.

Advantages: A good storm driving album: Janie, Destination Anywhere, August 7 Disadvantages: not great if you want an uplifting album
Destination Anywhere, Mr Bon Jovi's first solo effort, is a great album. The tracks all sound like soundtrack from a film (which not surprisingly are, for budding actor Jon Bon Jovi's film titled - you guessed it - Destination Anywhere). Its sultry, dark and atmostpheric at all times complete with rain, traffic and police walkie talkie sound effects. JANIE DON'T YOU TAKE YOUR LOVE TO TOWN is a beautiful sing a long track as are all the tracks on ... ...The title track, DESTINATION ANYWHERE conjures the mood of the whole album, which is basically that Jon is going to save the girl and drive in his car...which is where this album is best heard. AUGUST 7 4.15 is a particulary hard hitting track about a hit and run...incidently Jon's managers daughter...and COLD CRUEL HEART also keeps this mood. However the dark mood at the end of the album is complimented with some of the other light tracks, LEARNING ...

Cold Hard Heart
Admittedly, most of it it is 'standard' Bon Jovi material - a mixture of stonking rock anthemic tracks blended with rock ballads and those in-betweeny mediocre tracks. The highlights for me are "Every Word Was A Piece of my Heart" - I always play this track first! A stonking rock number which you can still sing along too. The title ... ...to Town" (one of the singles from the album) is quite a sparse, melodic sing-along track (which he allegedly wrote while sitting on the loo!) And "Cold Hard Heart" is a spine-tingling ballad with hardly any musical backing which highlights his wonderful vocal range beautifully.
The low points - those tracks which neither 'rock' or melt your cold hard heart are "Ugly" and "It's Just me". I admit these tracks drag and are unmemorable both lyrically ...

Destination Anywhere
I think he should have released a few of the other better ones from the album such as 'Learning how to fall', 'ugly' and August 7, 4.15 which was written about his managers daughter who died in a hit and run on this date(very deep)
So the album in its self did very well and jon was rather successful in his attempt at a solo career yet he did the right thing and went back to singing with other lads from ...

Advantages: He Has A Better Voice Than His Boss Disadvantages: Like All Solo Efforts Stemming From Bon Jovi, This Lacks Vision And Direction
...This is Richies second solo album effort and follows the same format as ‘Stranger In Town’ albeit with a slight more laid back grace to it. To people with musical ears Richie has got a better voice than his boss JonBonJovi and this album is streets ahead of JBJ’s ‘DestinationAnywhere’ album. Having said that it does not have the same x-factor appeal that makes the majority of BonJovis work really exhilarating.
‘Hard Times Don’t Come Easy’ has a great groove to it. ‘Fallen From Graceland’ is dull and shows the lack of direction and focus Sambora suffers when plying his own trade. He has a rich voice, good musicianship, but the delivery lacks any vision. ‘If God Was A Woman’ is much betters and ‘Your Not Alone’ would work well as a JBJ single...

...was feeling in the BonJovi world, perhaps overshadowed by Jon’s figure. The album attracted Eric Clapton’s attention. But despite his participation on the album Sambora’s debut was far from being a success.
Sambora had its second chance to prove his solo value in 1998 with the release of “Undiscovered Soul”, a title that once again suggested Sambora’s feelings towards his own talent. At the same time, JonBonJovi already had a new album wandering the charts since 1997 “DestinationAnywhere”.
***UNDISCOVERED SOUL***
COVER: I absolutely love the cover. It has a plastic three dimensional effect sleeve portraying Sambora looking away. The cover in the CD case itself shows a serious Sambora facing forward. The back of the plastic sleeve shows what seems to be a mystical triangle, hiding Sambora somewhere in the distance playing guitar...
