After DESTINY'S opening thumping baseline, funky guitar chords, and Michael Jackson's hiccuping "heeee-heee-heeee," there's only one sensible thing to do--blame it on the boogie. Or blame it on the Jacksons' 1978 platinum-selling album for being so damn good. The tenor of the times was finally right for the band, and everyone involved is on top form. With songs all written and produced by the Jacksons, the emphasis is on booty-shaking music with heart and real soul. Within a year Michael Jackson's OFF THE WALL album, on the charts for 52 weeks, would make him a force to be reckoned with. But on DESTINY, Michael's passion and desire is palpable, giving the album its real power and edge. Besides "Blame it on the Boogie," DESTINY also features the disco-combustible "Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)." Just about all the songs here are superlative, with standouts including Michael's delicately displayed anguish on the tender "Push Me Away," and the surprisingly poignant soul-searching "Destiny" which presciently foretells the situation the boys were soon to face as Michael's popularity soared.
Album Reviews: Blender (Magazine) (p.85) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "[The] high-def funk and sophisticated balladry proved the adult brothers were a force to be reckoned with."
Advantages: Quirky, likeable and original. A great collection of addictive tracks Disadvantages: Perhaps one too many genres thrown into the mix, unsettled and unusual.
...Debut albums are often notable for their diverse, sometimes indecisive mix of styles and themes as the artists struggle to establish themselves and let the listener know what they're all about. This is certainly true of The Sleepy Jackson's first full-length album Lovers; although at times I got the impression that lead singer and commander of mayhem Luke Steele is simply taking us on a roller coaster ride of genres, styles and themes, just for the sheer hell of it.
Within the space of the first two songs you quickly realise that someone who can move seamlessly from the George Harrison-esque opener 'Good Dancers' with its winding, whining strings, floating female harmonies and sitar-laden backing, to the stomping glam-rock, Velvet Underground sounding 'Vampire Racecourse' is not going to be easy to categorize. And it would appear...

Advantages: Good acting and storytelling Disadvantages: The making-of could have been better utilised
...It is a wonderful thing to be Scottish. But it hasn't always been. Going back centuries, we have been conquered, invaded, and oppressed. As recently as the 1950s, Scotland was referred to by England as North Britain. There was a fledgling movement wanting a parliament for Scotland, to give us our freedom and pride back, but a lot of Scots were made to feel like second class citizens and the Scottish National Party was still developing its ideology. Then along came a group of Glasgow University students who decided it was time to stop talking and start doing. So they did the obvious thing, and reclaimed the Stone of Scone from Westminster Abbey and brought it home to Scotland.
A little bit of history to give you some context if you don't know: the Stone of Scone, also known as the Stone of Destiny, is the ancient coronation stone...

Advantages: The King,, Slash, Great album Disadvantages: None
...production from Babyface, R Kelly, Rodney Jerkins, Teddy Riley and the unknown "Dr Freeze". It was released on 30th October 2001 to mixed reviews from critics and fans alike.
**The Album**
1.) Unbreakable
This starts off the album in a superb way with a full on stomper of a track which features a stupendous beat which is accompanied by the many hooks. It also features background vocals from Brandy and a rap sample from Notorious BIG. This is a great start to the album and is a preview of the way the first three tracks go.
2.) Heartbreaker
This is another uptempo stomper but though not quite as heavy as the opening track it still features a beat that thumps along and some funky hooks. Jackson's vocals start understated then he gradually gets louder as the song progresses. This track is about a relationship that has gone wrong that you...
