soho live, is a 2 CD live album by peter greens splinter group, recorded at ronnie scotts famous jazz club. there are 17 tracksin total including famous peter green songs from his fleetwood mac days 'albatross', black magic woman', 'green manalishi' and 'rattlesnake shake'. the rest of the tracks are a mix of 7 blues standards and 5 songs from the bands robert johnson songbook album including 'travelling riverside blues', 'last fair deal gone down' and 'if i had possession over judgement day'. the sound quality is very good and all the musicians in the group are in good form here. Green has certainly regained his touch after going off the rails a bit in the 70s and 80s. the stand-out track is 'the green manalishi' from Green's fleetwood mac days. it is a brilliant insight into a troubled mind and is a dark and brooding performance ...

Confessions of a Pop Group

Advantages: buried treasure unearthed
Disadvantages: none if you buy it

to speak out at all ,the album bombed ,the singles died and the public gave up on the Style Council once and for all ,but as swansongs go ,this is now a quietly growing legend ,a sort of "Pet Sounds" for the eighties . In the wake of"Confessions "we had Britpop and a Weller renaisance of epic proportions but his public are still largely unaware of this benign masterpiece as it matures and waits for the rest of us to catch up as hapened with the Kinks "Village Green"and Nick Drake,i feel there is fair chance of "Confessions of a Pop Group "staying around untill it reaches the giddy heights of cultdom,which is no more than it deserves . ...

Advantages: A good,light read
Disadvantages: Ending a letdown

This book is, as the title suggests,about a reading group. It begins one January and runs through to December, with a chapter for each month of the year. The front cover is in green, with 'The Reading Group' written in back ends of the books that are covered throughout the year by the reading group. Underneath the title are pictures of a glass of wine, an open reading book and a child's beaker, which represents the fact that the women in the reading group like to socialise together but also all have children. The book begins with Clare, she is married to Elliot, and is a midwife who is unable to have children herself. Clare's mum works with Susan, another member of the group, which is why Clare has found herself in the reading group - her mum thought it would help if she had something to do. Susan makes blinds and curtains ...
