everybody wants the true Elvis experience. I also highly recommend that you attain the Elvis Membership pass, this allows you to get discount on everything throughout the whole estate, from booking another room at the hotel, to the endless souvenirs that you will end up buying. It cost $20.00 and we saved several hundreds of dollars with this card. We did not find out about this card however until a few days into our trip, which should have been recommended as we booked into the hotel, so make sure you ask about it! You can also use this card further after your trip on the official Elvis website and you get a grovie little badge with Elvis on it to show you are member. There is additional accommodation in Memphis including other hotels, motels, B&Bs and also near Gracelands that offer competitive rates compared to the heartbreak hotel ...

Review of Memphis

The real Detroit

Advantages: Real American City
Disadvantages: Downtown area has poor reputation

When I first moved to Detroit, people feared for my safety and questioned my sanity. The airport store did nothing to reassure me, selling as it does souvenir T-shirts emblazoned ‘Welcome to Detroit, now **** Off’, and ‘I vacationed in Detroit . . . and survived’. A weaker willed person, or someone with a return ticket, would hop on the next plane out, but I was made of sterner stuff. Detroit is a very American city, with a flagging downtown, surrounded by poverty and ringed by the affluent suburbs. Sadly the suburbanites often miss out on what Detroit has to offer because of fear and laziness. Detroit hides the gem that is the Detroit Institute of Art away from the main waterfront, but it is well worth seeking out. It has a fine collection from Rodin and Picasso, as well as some exceptional World art ...

Review of Detroit

Graceland, the best part of Memphis.

Advantages: For an Elvis fan, it is the ultimate experience.
Disadvantages: It is not in the city.

Memphis is a really large city and there are many wonderful hotels, shops, departmental stores, restaurants, and anything your heart desires. We did all the tourist things. The Peabody Hotel, Sun Records, the museum where Elvis has his first recording equipment. We did Beale Street in the evening. Went into B.B. King's place. We even saw the motel where Martin Luther King Junior was shot. Yes, there is so much to do in Memphis, but I wanted to write my tribute to the King of Rock'n'Roll. I urge anyone that is an Elvis fan to take a trip of a lifetime. You won't be disappointed. Susie, who plays Elvis music on her organ, and listens to him in the car.
