i got this album awhile ago, after hearing some previews on the radio. So i was very excited about getting the album, as every song i heard on the radio i loved...so i new i was gonna love this album.
When i brought it i wasnt disapointed at all, i loved it, left it in the CD player because not much point taking it out if im gonna listen to it again in a few minutes....amazing album.
Not only can she sing, and man can she sing!, she can write her own tracks and play the piano, and the whole emotion she brings to her songs,is what make her music come alive...when she sings, she puts her whole heart into it, thats why in some of her perfomances you see her eyes closed, she searches deep within to capture her true feelings.
And well this album is no exception. Her first single taken from the album was of course, "if you dont know my name", which is a complete classic, she is able to bring back elements from the 70's and make them her own modern rarity. The song has a jazzy feel to it, as well as combing the soul Rnb..something so different to all the other artists out there.
She does a cover of the Glady;s Kight's if i was your women, and her amazing voice brings a new dimention to the song, almost making it a new version.
the track Diary is amazing, i first heard this when i was listening to radio one and broadcasted the live version of the song...and the live version is alot better that the album version!, illustrating her true talent. The track plays with the piano mainly, and also features JON B, who is also a well known Rnb singer. great track.
one of the songs she produced and wrote is If i aint got you baby (sorry started to sing along then!), thats the thing i hear the track and it automatically promps me too sing along,a amazing track the showcases her voices true potential.
the DVD That comes with the CD, is a behind the scenes look at her on tour, and an insight in to her life. quite good idea.
