Advantages: Beautiful, romantic voice and songs Disadvantages: None that I have found
...Dick Haymes – a name which will probably be unfamiliar to a lot of people today – but the name of a man who had one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard.
I really couldn’t tell you where or when I first became aware (if that is the right word) of him. Probably watching old films on TV when I was growing up I should imagine. I can only say that, as far back as I can remember, his voice was one that sent shivers down my spine!
I say as far back as I can remember for good reason as, in fact, his career started before I was born and he was at the peak of his popularity in the 1940’s and early fifties. I suppose it would be easy to explain had my mother been a fan of his – but she wasn’t – well, not knowingly anyway.

However, band name aside (I think it's legendary), Pickled Dick are one of the better underground UK pop punk bands emerging at the moment. Think a cross between pre-Nimrod Green Day, Screeching Weasel, Mr. T Experience and a little bit of The Queers, but with a stronger emphasis on harmonies and catchy choruses. Building on their debut full length 'Panda-Moanium', this six track gives the listener more of what can be found on the first release whilst at the same time expanding their sound and giving room for creativity.
The harmonies and sing-along's are still here throughout the 20 minutes, most evident in the insanely infectious opening track 'Extra...
